if they could legally do any of this to the rest of us, they already would be. They will push and strain and test and twist the system until they can. And, if we let them, they will.

Exactly this. If you want to piss and moan about how it’s hopeless and useless, feel free, but don’t expect a ton of support from the people who are putting their back into stopping it.
