Few moments in contemporary Star Trek have made as excited as getting to see the USS Titan finally appear on screen 18 years after Nemesis (let alone getting @seantourangeau.bsky.social's Luna-class starship design formally canonized).

OTD, the season 1 finale of #StarTrekLowerDecks, "No Small Parts," which made Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis the first Star Trek regular cast members to play the same roles in five different series.

Even more amusingly "Septimus" is the seventh music cue on the soundtrack.

You just KNOW that was an intentional placement. 😆
eanemanjames.bsky.social
This is also a really clever piece of music.

Those who've seen the film will remember Septimus is the seventh brother of eight siblings.

So Eshkeri leans into that, giving Septimus' theme a 7/8 time signature.
eanemanjames.bsky.social
If there's one piece of music from Stardust that's stuck with me, it's "Septimus" (and with apologies to "Shooting Star" and "The Star Shines").

Eshkeri is such an underrated composer, but I'd expect no less from someone who apprenticed with Edward Shearmur and the late Michael Kamen.

@davidmack.bsky.social, well, I'm about 7% of the way through the audiobook and, well, this feels apropos.

Really, that entire sequence was comedy gold. 😆
eanemanjames.bsky.social
...I didn't notice that until you just pointed it out.

Whoops, Libby. LOL.

But yeah, Ring of Fire is easily my most anticipated October new read alongside @farawaypress.com's Batman: Revolution.

We get this AND a new episode of Khan within a 48 hour period. I call that a VERY good week so far. 😁

Success is mine!

Now, the catch is my Kindle's still on Airplane Mode due to the 50+ book Summer backlog.

So, just in case I can't re-access it before the loan expires, at least I grabbed the audiobook.

Take THAT Kobayashi Maru! No-win scenario, my San Franciscan-trapped-in-Los Angeles derriere!

I swear to God, I've hated the new Libby system for the better part of 2 years now.

Just automatically add the new book releases, don't tease us like this!

I'm like Veruca Salt! I need @davidmack.bsky.social's newest Star Trek novel and I want it now, dammit. 😆😁

Fuck this.

This is nothing but red meat for Trump’s base. A federal law that *Trump* signed into law guarantees backpay to furloughed workers. There’s no disputing this.
moreperfectunion.bsky.social
A new White House memo says that furloughed federal workers aren't entitled to back pay.

This is clearly against the law, which guarantees furloughed federal employees back pay for the duration of a government shutdown.

Oh, to be stuck on the West Coast, LOL.

🚨 BREAKING - NEW #StarTrek: #StarfleetAcademy Series to AIR January 2026?

Actress Gina Yashere, who plays the Klingon-Jem'Hadar known as "Lura Thok", shared in a now-edited post that the series is due in January 2026!

🖖 One way to kickstart Star Trek's 60th!

So, I'll just end this week's review by channeling Khan himself with an evil laugh -- or, since last month was the 30th anniversary of Freakazoid, I'll channel Ricardo Montalban's OTHER most famous villain role. 😁

The introduction of Delmonda and the Elborians (I assume that's the correct spelling, LOL) was a great twist.

I didn't see that coming. It COMPLETELY changes the trajectory of the remaining road to TWOK and raises the thrill of seeing how exactly we get there.

Next month will be quite a ride.

But as in previous weeks, it's again interesting to see how the podcast obviously hews closely to some of Cox's elements I can recall (e.g. the planetary ecological fallout and response) while forging its own path.

And the latter leads us to this week's big reveal.
eanemanjames.bsky.social
Something I forgot to mention in previous weeks is that I deliberately didn't reread Greg Cox's To Reign in Hell before "Paradise".

I haven't reread Cox's Khan Trilogy in about a decade; I wanted to go into this podcast with a fresh perspective (though I'll go back afterwards when this is done).

And in the other corner, we then have @nicholasmeyer.bsky.social, Kirsten Beyer, and @davidmack.bsky.social -- and my sincerest apologies to @vivziepop.bsky.social, @spindlehorse.bsky.social, and @amirtalai.bsky.social for mixing Star Trek with Hazbin Hotel and the Hellaverse, heh -- going...
eanemanjames.bsky.social
All right, having finally listened to "Imagination's Limit" on my morning break...

So in one corner, we have Khan, Marla, and the rest of the Ceti Alpha V Augments, to borrow from Mel Brooks, going...

Trump is claiming no inflation.

He knows that, unlike him, we actually do our own shopping and know that’s bullshit, right?
eanemanjames.bsky.social
And I say "fun" advisedly and ironically, given this week's events.

I won't have a chance to listen to it until later today, but I already know what's coming.
eanemanjames.bsky.social
It's that time of the week again!

And we're back for more fun in the Ceti Alpha V Sun with @nicholasmeyer.bsky.social, Kirsten Beyer, @davidmack.bsky.social, @finalrune.com, and the cast and crew of the S.S. Botany Bay.

I'm SO totally buying an ermine cape, just so I can theatrically slink and strut up and down the theater aisles like Stolas. 😁🤣🦉
