I think for references, I don't refer to anything past 1978 with Fifty Days at Iliam by Cy Twombly mentioned.

It's just some art that I really like and the other piece that is referenced a lot is Duchamp's Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2 but that's at least 1912.

I joke a lot that I miss my old life or that I'm "boring" now, but in reality, I'm a lot healthier, my anxiety is more stable, I learned that I have OCD, which helps a lot, and I have a decent work schedule.

So yeah things technically are still bad, but it could be a lot worse. It's been worse.

This is also not a complaint of the book because it's not within the focus. It's just me being like hey here's some more info.

(Though I do have a lot of opinions on these footnotes but that is a different story.)

You can read more about it at the following link along with the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research at the American Philosophical Society.

I have a lot of thoughts on how the collection is kept/presented but no time to dig into them but you'll see.

I worked on a whole museum exhibit on the topic and people would come to me upset by the way Jefferson was "depicted" saying we made him sound like Hitler for the quote we used about why Indigenous languages would die out.

That's just a very random Ari thought while reading this book.

So many of the footnotes offer little to the plot and there's brief mention of linguicide being committed by commenting on the fact Harvard accepted Indigenous students who were required to assimilate, and I feel like that info with TJ is so fascinating and puts a lot into perspective.

Maybe the person in the audiobook also go the vowels wrong.

I'll go asks all the ppl in the one department to pronounce it and record.

They'll be like why and I'll be like don't worry about it as I take mysterious notes.

I've been wanting to read this book and this all makes me feel like I can learn a lot because I'm so bad at understanding tenses.
