the moral and intellectual decay of these 'elites' is worthy of late roman times

*i’d say it’s the belief that “woman” is a biological category of naturally kind “sex”, which leads to essentialism about social roles and so on

It's been so hard without his vision, but even more so without his action!

> аннулирование виз Госдепа

в том-то и дело, что юридически это НЕ так, это НЕ нарушение первой поправки. у федералов есть полномочия отказывать в визах, если они так посчитают.

In Sorokin’s The Norm, it comes across as even more grotesque:

Evidently, it's about Rothbard and his pernicious influence on the foreign policy thinking of many libertarians—it essentially replicated all the KGB's playbooks, and wasn't particularly shy about it. Rockwell, Paul, etc.—this is not a coincidence, but a pattern of this intellectual trajectory.

academic freedom/freedom of speech is a negative right, which entails autonomy from state regulation of speech. consequently, no governmental body can compel universities or individuals to accept speech they find personally objectionable. 1/2

In my native language, there’s a saying that matches the meaning of the English one but without any gendered undertone. 1/2

btw, it seems hoppe now is struck by the woke mind virus... (I hope the musk-trump regime doesn't deport him for this, pfft)

well, that's just garbage from some diploma mill—might as well take seriously the opinions of those suckers who graduated from drump university or bought andrew tate's courses, lmao

And from recent stuff, there’s the collection 'Sartre and Analytic Philosophy' (2024): ndpr.nd.edu/reviews/sartre-and-analytic-philosophy/. Freud’s in there too!

for me, as a non-native english speaker, this feels utterly counterintuitive. perhaps it’s because «чувак» ('dude') in russian *might* come from the feminized form «чувиха»—originally a derogatory term for female sex workers.

Their thinking is steeped in revisionism and a philosophy of suspicion, which by now has morphed into the wildest support for authoritarian right-wingers & the blatant imperialism of Trump (overall, and Putin too). For instance, here’s what they’re translating: bit.ly/4gVXtl0 2/3

well, in putin’s russia, the same pattern emerges: the public grows skeptical of liberal-leaning governance but shows admiration when it embraces displays of power.
January 26, 2025 at 12:02 AM
a russian human rights activist who fled to europe says that trump’s actions remind him of putin’s use of law enforcement to persecute dissenters. in just a few days, us has taken a path it took putin several years to follow. (t.me/NetGulagu/10...)
