Incredibly pleased to announce that US 2 Tumwater Canyon has reopened as of 5:30PM on Feb. 10 after a two month closure due to flood damage. Access is restored from Skykomish to Leavenworth for the first time since Dec. 11, 2025. Thank you to our contractor, crews and community!

Good morning!! Just like the #Seahawks shut down the Patriots last night, we are shutting down the SR 194 bridge at the Port of Almota in Whitman County for repairs. Starting today, the traveling public will not have access across the bridge. This closure will last until June 1.

Standing by for when the Seahawks clean house on Sunday. #GoHawks

Kudos to our maintenance crews who replaced a culvert and made repairs from a washout on SR 291 near Suncrest last night. And kudos to everyone who helped keep them safe by slowing down and moving over in the area!

This admin may not have much snowplow content lately, but at least the North Spokane Corridor never lets us down.

Heads up. US 395 near Loon Lake is backed up due to a collision blocking both directions. Expect long delays and seek alternate routes.

Last night a rockslide closed a lane of SR 155 south of Steamboat Rock State Park. One of the rocks is large enough it will require blasting to break it up before it's cleared. Plan for auto-flagger controlled traffic and delays until clean up and repairs are complete.

Last night around 11:15pm, while our crews were performing maintenance on EB I-90 in Spokane, a vehicle ran into the back of one of our vehicles. Thankfully there were no injuries.

Please, please, please slow down, move over and use caution. This happens all too often.

Good morning and Happy Tuesday. While our offices were closed yesterday, a group of us made our way to downtown Spokane to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our resource booth to say hello.

(1/2) We will close the Hansen Rd overpass over I-90 (Exit 174) in Moses Lake starting Sat, Jan. 17 at 6AM, after an inspection raised concerns about deterioration of the bridge. Additional inspection is needed to determine next steps. There is no estimated time to reopen.

(2/3) When we do have to take a lane, closures will happen only between 6PM-6AM during the week and then round the clock on weekends. Crews will repair washout damage and guardrail and add new drainage to prevent future erosion. Work is scheduled for 30 working days.
January 13, 2026 at 10:18 PM
(1/3) Repair work on the SR 285 Wenatchee River Bridge(s) begins Wednesday (1/14). First stage of work will be under the bridge. Expect to see some vehicles, crew and equipment working outside the travel lanes. As repairs progress, the contractor needs to close lanes.

Shoutout to our snowplow drivers who worked tirelessly around the clock last night and this morning to keep our roads clear. They truly are the best around.
January 8, 2026 at 8:25 PM
Crews are also mopping up the on- and off-ramps in the Spokane area this morning. Remember, our plows travel 35 MPH or less when clearing and treating roadways.

Good Thursday morning! That was quite the night last night, but the work isn't done! Just spotted one of our wing plows headed south on US 195 in Spokane. Crews are out monitoring roads and cleaning up the shoulders. Please continue to give them plenty of space to work.
January 8, 2026 at 4:13 PM
Crews are BUSY tonight! Please make sure to give them space and drive for conditions.

Crew member shared this picture filling material at our new salt shed that was completed this past fall, just off the North Spokane Corridor. Location is critical to limit crews time off our roads.

All lanes of westbound I-90 near the Four Lakes interchange, approximately 10 miles west of Spokane, are currently blocked due to a collision. Use alternate routes.
January 8, 2026 at 5:39 AM
Snowy conditions have forced our contractor on US 2 Stevens to pause repairs. Work will remain on hold Wednesday (1/7). The road will open at 6AM between Coles Corner and the summit (MP 85-99), but there will not be a pilot car. Road will close again at 6PM Wednesday.

If you missed last month's community engagement for the NSC & I-90 connection, you've got two opportunities to weigh in this week.

1. Carl Maxey Center: 1/7 - 5:30-7PM
2. Liberty Park Library: 1/8 - 10AM-12PM

Topics at these open houses include pedestrian bridge & plaza design.

This is how we do it: Love to see this convoy of US 2 Stevens Pass travelers giving our plow drivers space to do their thing. Thank you!
January 6, 2026 at 7:53 PM
Our contractor will be working on several sections of Chumstick Hwy (US 2 Tumwater Canyon detour) beginning Monday (1/5) at 8AM, with flaggers and delays so they can repair failing pavement. Please stay alert for crews and plan for longer travel times through Tuesday.
January 4, 2026 at 8:14 PM
Ringing in the new year with some good news: US 2 Stevens Pass is open! Eastbound access from Skykomish has been restored and daytime pilot car operations remain in place on the east side of the summit. Please be responsible and be prepared for winter travel.
January 1, 2026 at 2:10 PM
Pilot car is necessary because we are still working on road and drainage repair and need the full road to stage and operate. The overnight closures give our crews and contractor time to expedite the remaining repair work.
