Danmei, crochet, science fiction and fantasy. Horror movies, horses, and house plants.
Halfway through 2025 and I've read six 5 star reads. Though really, two of them count as 6 stars as I think they were written just for me:

The Incandescent by Emily Tesh -- fantasy, academia, bisexual character, middle aged character, demons, smart teenagers, excellent world building and writing

5/5 stars for The Secret Market of the Dead

YA, full of folklore and fantasy, with a charming young protagonist, and a lot of thoughts and feelings about stories; how they come to be, how we learn from them, how we shape them with our understanding of them.

Reading "After Being Forced To Marry The Evil Star General" and am having fun. The poor housekeeper, so sure the two men need all the bedroom help they can get, buying them books and ointment ... much to their confusion.

I have nothing but scathing contempt for Chuckles Schumer, who'd rather answer to some idealized, imaginary Mr. and Mrs. America in his head than the real people currently fighting for their rights, who'd rather fellate the republicans for their mocking head-pats than fight for his constituents.

I was lucky enough to read an ARC of I Leave It Up To You by Jinwoo Chong, and I think it's the best book I've read all year. Maybe in the past two or three years.

The writing is flawless, and the story of love and acceptance is perfection. Please read it!

I read two books this week who shared very similar MC names ... one had an excellent plot, poor writing. The other had decent writing, poor plot.

Now if only I could introduce the authors to one another. Imagine the book baby they'd make!

Thanks to Amazon no longer allowing books to be downloaded, I've moved to Calibre for my ebook needs, and I'm enjoying the ability to make my own tags, organize books in my own way, and even pick the covers I prefer.

It converts formats, it's free! Try it!

Reading the SClass novel right after reading the web comic ... was not the best idea. The comic is a great adaptation, and very faithful to the book. But book Yoojin isn't as charming as his comic counterpart.

I have brought my TBR list from 25, to 20. I have bought three new books as a reward.

... am I winning or losing? I can't tell.

As someone who grew up in Helena, something about this number feels slightly ... off.

Happy Black History Month!

My goal is to read one book by a black author every week of the month. Suggestions welcome! (I'll read almost anything, but prefer SF/Fantasy)

My five star #januaryreads. Three new books, one re-read -- because if I've ever needed a good re-read, it's this month. #booksky #books

Considering he likes slapping his name on anything that will stand still, I'm honestly surprised 45/47 hasn't renamed Gitmo to the Donald J. Trump Concentration Camp

NetGalley is a terrible grocery store, selling only potato chips ... I can never request just one ARC, and now I have 20+ to finish!

I am now off to Net Galley to look at the new additions ...

Based on RNG, my next danmei (because I'm avoiding finishing my others) is It's Not Easy Being a Master by Jin Xi Gu Nian.

Tropes promised: Isekai, reincarnation, enemies to lovers, teacher/student (but the teacher is replaced by a modern guy).

So much this! (Especially today)
Okay let’s see how videos do on Bluesky. I’m curious, and also this is one of my favorite bookish videos to share. 😊 #booksky

With all of these new danmei being picked up for translation ... why can't Qi Ye get a break? C'mon, Priest, let the world have more Jing Beiyuan! He deserves the attention!

Erha book 8 and 9 successfully preordered! Still waiting for Misvil and DVAWTK to have their first books fully translated and ready for publishing ... and the wait is long. Too long.

I want my books!

I'm 30% into an ARC of The Incandescent by Emily Tesh (published by Tor) and I think this is going to be my first 5 star book of the year! I love Tesh's writing, her strong character voices and her world building.

I might finish this book today because it's hard to put down!
