Hi, I'm a trans Californian who reported on the CA bills. This headline is misleading at best. You haven't noted that he has until the 12th to sign the other bills, leaving that out is irresponsible and fearmongers.

People can and should still pressure him on those bills.

And it also means the people in our city will not stop and will not give up. And the whole city from top to bottom knows that, so everyone can make decisions accordingly.

Oregon is full of contrarian, independent spirit, but as Portland has grown over the last 50-ish years that's been channeled into a fight for your values, wear your 💚 on your sleeve, stand up for the little guy vibe. With a lot of joyful weirdness on top

it. People are salty about it. They basically made 2/3rds of the city hate the chamber of commerce (they even had to re-brand, but didn't actually change), and big business (not actual big - Portland big) more broadly. That's how we ended up with charter reform and so many DSA councilors

Some of that, but Portland (biggest city in the state and over 57% of GDP) saw progressive policies turn the city into a place where people really WANTED to live. We had a few years of "moderates" (might be R's somewhere else) take control and throw their weight around and people REALLY did not like
