My oldest has at least absorbed our family hatred of AI and is very loud about but I sure don’t love the world he’s growing up in!!

I love my job but I can’t deny that it is really hard right now. And also I love it and can’t imagine doing anything else.

We have to be adults who can build trust when all they see is adults breaking trust.

We have to figure out how to engage a group of 15-year-olds who has seen a video of a person murdered on their laptops at lunch. We have to try to help students feel safe enough to learn when they are worried that someone is going to take their parents off a street corner.

(Also, props to @ifyoucantwell.bsky.social for being the spouse who sent me to bed at 1 am and took over the dozing-on-the-couch-between-kid-vomits role … )

This was the worst 30 minutes and I am so thankful for the person who found him

I have not seen this!!

He is out of place, strange, other; he is in touch with something mystical. He loves truck stop diners, coffee, and apple pie—and is served cherry cobbler at the end. He is full to the brim with empathy. He even hits the jackpot multiple times at slot machines through his spiritual power.

And yes I did get up at 5:30 this morning to grade and yes it takes a lot of time but … me doing my own grading is also central to me even having the hope of being an effective teacher for my students
