Ultimately you're not supposed to believe it. It not mattering is the point. The bolder the lie, the greater the impunity. The ultimate victory for evil is not convincing you, it's the truth being irrelevant.
We’re supposed to believe this is a domestic terrorist attacking ICE with a gun

Remember when teachers spent the majority of their time planning lessons, grading, and thinking about new units for their students? Now we have ICE protocols, AI protocols, lockdown trainings, & we have had to become experts very quickly in taking care of young people who are suffering from trauma.

I’ve been managing to keep functioning relatively normally because I have a job and three kids who need routines but I gotta be honest it’s getting harder and harder to compartmentalize

ICE has now carried out two summary executions of innocent people in the streets of an American city.

If you work for ICE, there's no denying that's the mission you're supporting now. You don't get to claim in one year or ten or twenty that you didn't know what ICE was doing. You're complicit.

man this is a good movie and also Chris got mad at me afterwards for pointing out that it is both temporally and thematically a warped Christmas movie

you’d think by my third kid I’d have learned not to say things like “I think all I need is one good night’s sleep” as we all know that will immediately summon the demons of stomach flu

We got to talk about the fact that the first target for this is a Black woman which a lot of people in the terminally online world we know these comms staffers (and others) inhabit represent a particular archetype of person who needs to be “humbled.”

ICE kidnapped a 5-year-old and sent him alone to a facility in Texas. Hell isn't hot enough.
Here’s the report from KARE. The boy is five-year-old Liam Ramos.

attempting to teach my 10th graders how to do research today—a skill it is harder for students to master than ever, thanks to the great enshittification of the internet coupled with the slow demise of the school library

You know, it gets harder and harder to come back from a weekend away as the realities of daily life and politics become more and more dystopian and traumatic

Ok, in honor of John Carpenter’s birthday and the anniversary of David Lynch’s death, a thought I had while watching Starman recently: Agent Cooper was TOTALLY influenced by Starman, right??

David Lynch passed a year ago today. I hope we all can absorb just a little bit of the energy he put out in his lifetime.

Loved that last night's episode of The Pitt commented on something true about education as well as medicine—the way we are told that AI will "save us time" and help "automate" processes like grading (or, in The Pitt's case, charting), which clearly ignores the highly human aspect of our jobs.

Do not recommend running on 4 hours of sleep, going to the first half of your work day, coming home to switch off taking care of two sick kids with your partner, and then reading the news/scrolling through Bluesky

ICE not only manhandled and terrorized a 10th grader who is an American citizen, they stole his phone. And then they sold it.

I repeat, they stole his phone, and then they sold it.
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

Anyone else feel like they can power through their day but find themselves exhausted by 7 pm due to the compartmentalization required of anyone living in America right now?
