I am internalizing that hope and fear come from the same place of insecurity. They're both an attachment to an outcome: you want good to happen, you don't want bad to happen. Allowing whatever to happen and trusting I can handle it has helped my frustration levels. Worrying is suffering twice.

Lastly, three nails I pulled from the collapsed remains of the oldest homestead site in the region of Eastern Oregon I used to live in, first established in the 1860s. The Northern Paiutes used to grow corn there, now it's mostly dust.

At the bottom is an old railroad spike from the Western  expansion. Above it, the remains of a large nail pulled from the heart of an old growth hemlock tree. I suspect the tree was spiked to protect it, but was felled anyway.
