Walking 9+ miles of suppression lines across the Carrizo Plain National Monument resulted in finding this trophy Tule Elk deadhead.

Found “in the black” fire footprint. Don’t know how many years is was there, but now fully visible with all the grass, forbs, and shrubs gone.

Grateful for the opportunity to work in this amazing area.

Pushing “viewpoint diversity,” they’re giving fringe, conspiracy theorist voices & fossil fuel shills a seat at the same table as actual experts.

We need policies that uphold evidence-based science—not ones that legitimize conspiracy-driven, anti-science climate denial.

Idk about pulling your abstract. That’s a tough call only you can make.

As far as the rumor, a friend who serves on the Board. I told him that I missed the early bird & wasn’t sure I could attend due to cost.

He hinted at support for feds and land managers due to the current political climate.
ecologyphd.bsky.social
It is very sad.

I have heard that there are about 1000 registered ATM.

I am also on the fence. I missed the last few in-person World Conferences & was really excited to attend this one (up until Jan 20th).

I heard a rumor that SER is prioritizing Feds for their “Equity” registration rate.
ecologyphd.bsky.social
Oooo! That looks fun, and pretty close!

I’m still contemplating whether or not to go to the Society for Ecological Restoration World Conference in Denver this year.

Not presenting, so all on my own dime but then I don’t need permission to attend either.

Can you share which conference??

We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent.

Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.
Attacks on Muslims flood mainstream after Mamdani win
Openly racist rhetoric has become normalized at the highest levels of American politics.

In 2020, when I told people that I was building a pro-democracy media outlet, people thought I was kidding.

When I told them that the fight for democracy was the fight of our time, they thought I was being overly dramatic.

Well...here we are.

Same thing happened when I took my daughter fishing while we were in Idaho once.

Told her to quickly grab her gear, we jumped in the truck, and drove to the other side of the pond.

Spent a little time just watching it before we got out and attempted to fish again.

When political power silences science, we all lose. From climate to health, anti‑science agendas erode progress.

Scientists, institutions, and leaders must speak up - or risk letting ideology undermine academic freedom and evidence-based discovery.

In the face of anti-science politics, silence is not without cost
More scientific leaders need to speak out about anti-science agendas and threats to academic freedom across the world. More scientific leaders need to speak out about anti-science agendas and threats to academic freedom across the world.
