Haven’t read that in so long! Find it’s troubling to read a lot of older historical romance genre fiction for the same reason—cruelty should not be shorthand character development.

i also like that they promote repair culture. imo, even when people buy quality things, they are too quick to ditch and replace when things look shabby

I recently heard a podcast to which I subscribed mention a book by a guest and “show” the book and never give its title. That podcast is no longer accessible. Even the youtube transcript won’t provide the book name!
