The New Pope Doesn’t Seem to Be a Huge Fan of Trump or JD Vance
Robert Prevost, aka Pope Leo XIV, has a long history of criticizing Trump on what appears to be his X account.

Are there any Sango (Central African language) speakers here? I volunteer for a non-profit that helps refugees settle in the US. I just need some help in pronouncing some basic words. Google Translate does not currently offer speech in Sango.

We're still lucky that Trump wasn't the US president during WWII. Just imagine.

What scares me most is how many admirers Trump has in the military and law enforcement. When the next act of terror comes (real or manufactured), he can declare martial law and I won't be surprised if most people in uniform will oblige and arrest his opponents.

In the past, stupid people knew they were stupid. Now, with them being on social media, they live in big bubbles where everyone they know have the same beliefs, and that the educated experts are wrong and trying to mislead them.

My prediction: with Trump's minions paralyzing the government, purging the armed forces' leadership of non-loyalists and the economy in chaos due to trade wars, China will invade Taiwan. They'll have nothing to lose. US isolationists will say Taiwanese are Chinese anyway, no need for US involvement.

It's Pearl Harbor Day today. Remember that it happened because America chose to focus inwards and let Europe and Asia take care of their own problems. We also cut economic ties with our enemies, leaving them with nothing to lose. Past but increasingly sounding like the near future.

I'm afraid this is probably true. Since even the empty states (which are reliably Republican) gets 2 senators each, it will become very difficult for Dems to get a Senate majority again. www.yahoo.com/news/opinion...?
Opinion - Republicans just won a permanent Senate majority
The loss of the Senate by the Democratic Party may lead to a permanent Republican Senate, limiting the enactment of broad campaign promises, entrenching the perception of dysfunction in Washington, an...

I bet if Hamas and Israel do come to an agreement and the hostages are released before inauguration day, Trump will claim credit for it.

Since Elon and Vivek are de facto members of the incoming administration, shouldn't they be required to divest themselves of businesses and investments that could potentially benefit from their roles???

It's ridiculous that Dems are trying to invent hundreds of reasons why we lost the elections. It's the Economy, stupid!! The vast majority of voters felt their buying power sink in the past 4 yrs and a huge chunk blame Biden. They don't care about % GDP growth or % unemployment or the S&P500.

Don't ever let people tell you that Trump won a massive victory. His share of the popular vote is now down to ~49.9%, meaning more than half of all voters did not want him. Close to 90M eligible voters didn't bother to vote. Certainly not a mandate to tear down our institutions.
