Struggling screenwriter.

Will write for food, management, or three-picture deal.
I'm about 20% into a new script. I've got all the beats planned. There's a crucial bit that moves the story along that I was proud of when I noted it down. Funny stuff.

I'm watching the new Naked Gun movie. THAT BIT APPEARS IN THE MOVIE! WTF?!

At least it confirms that I can write Hollywood humor.
I watched an '80s romantic comedy that I'd never seen before. Quite a few scenes (one in particular) had the same feel to the movie I've written.

I take that as a positive because that '80s/'90s romantic comedy feel is what I was aiming for.

Shame there's no market for it these days.

Every 6 months or so, my TV will randomly raise the volume to double the regular level. No clue why.

It just raised it right as Jennifer Aniston said the words "the ass" so that's nice.

Crime of the century!

A 15 year old just stole the bowl full of candy from my porch. I am now missing a bowl and candy.

Why isn't mainstream media covering this?!

No-one in my life would care so it's here in case someone says "oooooh" or even "aaaaah".

Anyone know the Guile scroller glitch in SF2 where he infinitely scrolls from top to bottom of screen?

It just happened in the original Fatal Fury. The CPU (as Duck King) did it, which is wild.

That is all.

I have no idea how many people this will reach, but Van has always been a solid #WGA choice. If you have any say in the election process, please consider him. He legitimately cares about writers and the industry as a whole.
The 2023 WGA Strike was a difficult experience for all members, but also marked a high point in member solidarity & guild communication. When the strike ended, that communication stopped completely—and as a result, I’ve watched us grow more disconnected & allow our hard-earned solidarity to wither.

I asked AI to generate a photo of how it perceives itself. No hinting of any kind. Just what it thinks it would look like if it were human. This is what it came up with.

I asked what its name would be.

Ordering from In-N-Out.

- 13 minutes to get to the guy that takes your order
- 15 minutes to get to the pay window
- 5 minutes to get the order

This is why I don't go there very often.

Also because the food isn't very good.

I just came across a popular site where order confirmation pages are being indexed by search engines, so I can see everything related to the order. THEN, you view the source and there's a data dump of everything related to the invoice. Database ID's, package details, notes, URLs, etc.

*sigh*

I also visited Ferris Bueller's house when I was in LA last year.

He's my hero.

A few weeks ago I visited Cyberdyne Systems because I like to visit movie locations, and definitely not to let our future robot overlords know that I respect and admire them.

The last photo is where the police hid themselves to stop a robotic overlord from shooting at them from a window.

No one is talking about this, but I'm pretty sure Costco / Kirkland paper towels are now thinner.

I don't know if it's AI or sloppy upscaling/cleaning, but this is sacrilege.

Everyone looks artificially smooth, and the text is ridiculous.

More reason to keep older physical media releases.

Terminator 2D: No Fate looks amazing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkMF...

An officially licensed, old school action platformer for Switch, PS4/5, Xbox and PC. Supposedly "announced at a later date" will be retro platforms, so maybe SNES/Genesis/etc too?

reef.direct for physical (collector) purchases.

I never saw "Wayne's World" at the cinema. Just TV and home video.

Turns out the "Stairway To Heaven" riff, which is obviously incorrect, was correct in the theatrical release but Led Zeppelin wanted $100k for it, so every DVD/BD/etc. release has the generic riff.

But the 4K restores it! TIL!

I just learned about Paramount Ads Manager which uses a CPM model to display ads on Paramount platforms (like +): adsmanager.paramount.com

$500 min, which isn't bad. Don't know if there's conflicts of interest, but it's the sort of thing I see @vanthebrand.bsky.social & @bugmane.bsky.social using.

TIL there's a band called "Larkin Poe".

The band was named after their great-great-great-great grandfather and NOT the movie Con Air, so I'm now questioning whether I know anything at all.

I know "thoughts and prayers" aren't exactly helpful, and are generally ridiculed, but that's all some of us can do :(

So, thoughts and prayers to everyone in LA! Hope everyone, and their property, is safe!
