I'm cynical but passionate and optimistic about the future. I'm into landscape fauna ecology especially in the arid and semi arid zones. 😁 PS not a huge fan of cat and puppy photos.
Without a chin we would never have "The Thinker".

Here is a quote from the early 20teens that befits the climate in which we find ourselves:

Again, the advantage of not eating lunch because you're too busy cooking. Zucchini and mint pasta.

I begin work next week and was thinking of lunches. I'm not a fan of junk food, so I thought I would make myself some Caponata. It's difficult dish to explain to non-Italians, but believe me it is delicious and so very colourful. I would recommend looking up 1 of the million variations of this dish.

It reminds me most of the words of Hajo Meyer as depicted in this meme.

This is taken from an interview in 2010 (he passed away in 2014) and it is as relevant today as it was 15 years ago.

As someone who wanted his archaeologist stripes at one time, this makes me laugh.

Bit of a bummer for the SW. Seems a lot of careless people - all fires so far either begun by humans either accidentally or deliberately.

Not a huge fan of Snoopy, but this is a cracker (I have no idea if Schulz actually drew it).

Bugger. One of my favourite National Parks is under threat from a bushfire. It seems to always coincide with the tourist/holiday seasons. This is a globally recognised biodiversity hotspot. Unfortunately, bushfire is common during holiday/tourist seasons.

I heard this happened in Perth yesterday. It hit +38C in Albany today and now a storm front. Notice the blue sky in the background.

Utterly shocking.

This is the subtle, but clear difference between reporting of rapes in this country. The Age headline is focused on the victim and her response when confronting her attacker. The West Australian/The Nightly instead just wants to emphasise the attacker is "suicidal". Oh and the victim broke down.

You've got to love that first response to the meme.

This is the Esperance region. An overworked, high input, massive area of monoculture resulting from intensive industrialised farming. In one of the most biodiverse areas in Oz, whatever remnant native bush is held in conservation parks. Poor agricultural land management is the problem.

I've always found it difficult to accept gifts for just doing what I enjoy. I thank South Coast NRM for allowing me to assist in their Western Ringtail Possum monitoring. It's always a blast.

This sp is being impacted by habitat loss, invasive sp, climate change, disease, loss of genetic variation.

For US citizens, Liberals in Australian politics = USA Republicans (freaky conservatives)

Tools for next project have arrived. Who needs to buy food when you can woodwork? 🤣

What do you think? It's at least another 7 days before I can wax and buff the top. I'm playing with the idea of staining the chairs in a similar jarrah-like tone.

Dining table progress. Still lots of shapes, fill in colours, and designs to go.

So very bored today (actually, I'm just tired after a week possum surveys). Two spring vegetables quiches ready for the oven.

The underside is done, flip, mask, begin with the outer most colour of the mandala table top. The centre of the table will hold a hand painted mandala design, showing off all its imperfections.
