Honored to be mentioned alongside scholars I admire: @naomicaselli.bsky.social, Padden, Mayberry, Chen Pichler, and more! www.science.org/content/arti...

"Imperfect sounds: Cochlear implants give deaf kids unprecedented access to sound. But insisting they avoid using sign language may be risky."
Implants can help deaf kids hear—but many still struggle with spoken language
Some researchers worry about risks of devaluing sign language, overreliance on imperfect devices

I know I shouldn’t cross post from a hot bed of neo-Nazism. But this is mad. Imagine the implications for sport for starters if this was true. You can play for a British team, but not for England. that’s for whites.

As promised, here are the slides I shared with students to convince them to NOT use chatGPT and other artificial stupidity.

TL;DR? AI is evil, unsustainable and stupid, and I'd much rather they use their own brains, make their own mistakes, and actually learn something. 🪄

The mind-blowing ocean-facts series:
A sea turtle's sex is determined by sand temp. Too hot = more females, too cool = more males. As climate change heats up the beaches, male populations dwindle, which further threatens endangered species of sea turtles.

Vaccines save lives. Keep repeating the message. It’s the truth.
Vaccines against COVID-19 saved over 20 million lives in the first year alone, according to a study in Lancet Infectious Diseases. Anti vaxxers conveniently ignore such stats.

Thousands of doctors across all specialties are concerned about PAs and patient safety

Valid concerns backed by a mountain of irrefutable evidence

Current noise is meant to bully and gaslight Doctors into silence

It won't work

The governance failures do not stop at the RCP's door. FOI revealed extensive comms between the DHSC, NHSE, the GMC and RCP in the build up to the Extraordinary General Meeting and SI vote looking to rally support.

Every spoke of the wheel which should have been looking to protect patients failed.
In the light of the new government announcement of a national review of Physician Associate roles and scope of practice, I repost our Statement of Concern (March 24) on how the Royal College of Physicians of London had dealt with the matter. At the time we were described as a "social media rabble".

Apologies, we missed our author introduction tonight, on account of being at BSL Level 1 class instead ... and when it started to snow we instantly had to learn the sign for snowman (obvs) and then found this fab video on YouTube!
