#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched: my fave soundtrack of 2025 in a terrible movie, two quiet bangers, and a movie that disintegrated every ounce of respect and appreciation I had for it with the final 10 minutes or so.

The only appropriate shirt for today. A lot of people think the weirdness is the point of Lynch's work, but I think it's the truth that is the most important thing. I love the sincerity with which he approached everything. Do some art today. Tell someone they set your socks on fire. Love something.

Deal Announcement! I acquired this at the end of last year and we can finally talk about it: Be My Alibi is a bitingly funny and very unhinged love story (not a Romance!) about a serial killer, a small-town fall festival, and a true crime podcaster by @tayloredtext.bsky.social. So fun.

Went to the record store at lunch because my husband asked if I wanted to go. Two for me, two for him. (Florence and Tomb Raider are mine)

My husband brought home another stack of movies today. My faves: Babe and Chain Reactions, the Texas Chainsaw doc from Alexander O. Philippe.

Going back to Sandman Slim today by @richardkadrey.bsky.social. This series is such a fucking great, weird LA noir with killer paranormal elements. If you have not read them you should.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched: finally got around to watching Weapons (enjoyed it), a surface level doc about 80s movies that didn't work for me, a fabulous scifi noir that still looks awesome, and an incredibly interesting profile of a journalist.

Working in publishing means reading out of time. I read a bunch of things that aren't out yet. And I read other great books that I either don't own because I got a galley or borrowed from the library etc. But because it's the end of the year, here's a selection of the best things I read in 2025:

Grateful to my husband for not only getting me a copy of the Possession 4K, but also for giving it to me ahead of Christmas so I don't have to unwrap it in front of my mother-in-law and explain the plot.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched:
A bleak view of marriage, a bleaker view of the not-so-distant future, an old-time adventure story with great special effects, and a not-too bad serial killer movie with great shark footage but a kind of middling final girl.

I've been reading @emilyhughes.bsky.social Jump Scares lists for ages and seeing my own book here is very, very cool.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched:
Three great movies (a kid-friendly classic, a wildly weird comedy with amazing costumes, one of the best LA noirs) and an absolutely atrocious and unfunny attempt at humour.

Definitely bought this beer solely because of the name. How could I not? One of my fave shows of all time. The beer is also pretty good.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched:

A weird and kinda bleak Japanese creature feature (that isn't really a creature feature), Hitchcock’s second most unsettling movie, my favorite shaggy dog crime story, and a wildly ridiculous and still somewhat compelling Carpenter film.

The last time I used this mug my kid emptied the dishwasher and stashed it in a different place, so I was glad to find it again this morning for my coffee.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched:

Frankenstein (again), my first favourite movie, a horror movie I haven't seen since it came out (it's fine), and one of my fave Hitchcock films.

Is there anyone as unabashedly sexy as Eva Marie Saint in North by Northwest? Good grief.

Mostly I keep my crafty stuff on Instagram (where I am also EditrixEmma), but I made a coat and that is a big undertaking so I'm going to celebrate it everywhere. (The pattern is the Poppy Coat by The Fabric Store, in blue wool blend fabric with red kasha lining.)

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched:

Haven't done this in a few weeks because of baseball and The Lowdown (great show by the way). But I have watched a few things this week: Beatty is as charismatic as ever, disappointing sequels and remakes, and the most glorious adaptation of Frankenstein.

I first discovered Clive Barker's Books of Blood when I was 18, visiting family in England. Found a weird little bookshop and bought volume 1 (and a Discworld book), and proceeded to have my mind blown. Finally got the matching edition of volume 2 today, just missing number 6.

RIP Diane Ladd. Love her in Wild at Heart, a movie I appreciate even more every time I watch it.

I always love seeing people's awards eligibility posts to remind me of things I haven't had a chance to read yet, so I thought I'd post my very first one! Just a couple of articles, I'll link them here:

I don't have four movies watched to post today (baseball took over my tv) but I have me dressed as four books I love instead, enjoy! Read these:
Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker
Hemo Sapiens by Emily A. Weedon
The Marigold by Andrew F. Sullivan
Soft Targets by Carson Winter
