I guess I've been lax at posting over here, but I will try to be better. An intro: I'm Emma, I'm an editor at Harlequin, and in my spare time I'm writing a nonfiction book about romance in horror movies because I love horror. Always happy to answer questions about Harlequin if I can!
A picture of me smiling while holding a big stack of horror movies as research for my upcoming book.

Absolutely! It's the sole reason the book is called Love Never Dies!

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched: a couple of Cronenbergs bookend the week. Loved OBAA, love The Brood (always, wrote about it in Night Tide last year)...Shivers and What Lies Beneath are fine but not show stopping.
Letterboxd last four watched: The Brood, What Lies Beneath, One Battle After Another, and Shivers.

HWA folks! Have you recommended others' work to the Recommended Reading list for the Bram Stoker Awards? Horror writers, have you submitted your own work to the juries? Here's how! You can even click through to the full rules if you're intrepid! www.thebramstokerawards.com/submissions/

It was fantastic! Mona is so inspiring. And Amy Jones, her interviewer had such incredibly insightful questions. So fun

For people who love weird short stories—Did you know the incredible Lackington's archive is still online? You should read it now while we still have an internet lackingtons.com

Did I just see Nine Inch Nails in Toronto? Yes. Am I going again because they're playing in Hamilton? Also yes. No idea when or if I'll get the chance again so might as well go for it.
Going to see Nine Inch Nails again, this time in Hamilton.

I just think this last month or so has been really entertaining! I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching them but they seem to be having a lot of fun lately.

I was pretty sure I was going to see this on the big screen anyway because I am a massive NIN fan, but you've made me hope there might be something more exciting/interesting to look forward to here.

My husband has been making me watch the Blue Jays for like 20 years and it's finally pretty good.

Award eligibility on the dance floor!

DISCO MURDER CITY just might be the queer batshittery you and your colleagues need tonight.

If you’re HWA, jury, board, or anything of the sort, say hi and I can get you a review copy.

Always room for another body at the disco 🔪

I am not currently in need of the workshop, but I will say that Eric's nonfiction query resources are, I think, what made my nonfic proposal strong enough to get an agent and a book deal. Super helpful and insightful.

Happy book birthday to @jennykiefer.com and Crafting for Sinners! As a crafty person, this book feels hilariously disgustingly accurate and I loved it. You should read it especially if you are also a crafty person (who is not squeamish)
Jenny Kiefer's Crafting for Sinners. The cover features a pair of crocheted hands on a praying pose.

We watched What Lies Beneath because it's been a while and it's on Criterion. The biggest plot twist is that it was written by Clark Gregg.

The state of online media is such a bummer, I sometimes think: who cares? Then, I read something so smart and so funny and so uniquely the product of this compromised but generative space, that I remember: I care!
This, by @mckinneykelsey.bsky.social, is a tour de force. defector.com/taylor-swift...

#LetterboxdFriday, here's my #LastFourWatched: They Live and Minority Report are enjoyable, I should like The Sound of Music but I don't, and Wonder Boys is one of my faves about writers. October faves aren't much different than my regular faves to be honest, but I switched them up.
Letterboxd October faves: Twin Peaks Fire Walk with Me, Hellraiser, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and The Fly.
Last Four Watched: They Live, The Sound of Music, Minority Report, and Wonder Boys.

sorry to be boring about this, but the tired line about "this kind of work is only possible via subscribers" is still true, there's no way we have the time or space to do stories like this otherwise
