17 chapters, 470 pages, and 169350 words - what a manuscript!
Now proofreading, and then the edited volume by Michael Dobbins and me on „The political system of Ukraine“ will be submitted to the publisher.
Looking forward seeing the result of the hard work of the last months finally out there!

What is actually happening in the front line in Ukraine?

Texty.org.ua presents a unique data investigation on how the frontline in Ukraine has become a real "kill zone" where people are constantly playing hide-and-seek with death.

The "Holocaust by bullets" is barely known. The Nazis murdered 1.6 million Jews in Soviet Ukraine, 500k in Belarus and 120k in Russia. 80% were shot like "The Last Jew in Vinnitsa" in the picture (in fact, Berdychiv). Now, the perpetrator has been identified. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/o...

...for the May holidays right before the Russian invasion.

But I also realized something else: most people can't be convinced of these things until they happen.

That's where the questions about international law for prisoners come from, given your story about wires tied to your body.

5 (end)/ The full, very detailed report (236 pages!) provides a great overview of the current status of Ukraine's anti-corruption institutions and is available here: www.oecd.org/content/dam/...

4/ the biggest weakness is when it comes to enforcement of offences, here Ukraine clearly needs to deliver more. While there has been a general increase in convictions, some high-profile cases for example were dismissed due to the expiration of procedural time limits.
edklein.bsky.social
3/ Noteworthy are the independent anti-corruption institutions, that stand out with a score of 92.7 (out of 100). This is, why Ukrainian's recently protested (successfully) when they were under attack. #Whistleblower protection and anti-corruption policy are strong areas, too.
edklein.bsky.social
2/ In four further areas, it scored "high", and in one area Ukraine showed "average" results. Compared to the other countries the OECD assessed, Ukraine performs best by far and comes to a total of 642 points when all indicators are added together (#Moldova: 554, #Armenia: 458, #Azerbaijan: 322).
edklein.bsky.social
1/ "Ukraine is a very corrupt country" is a typical sentence people hear. While #corruption persists (as everywhere), #Ukraine is fighting it, as the new @oecd-ocde.bsky.social #Anti-Corruption Monitoring Report shows: In 4 areas 🇺🇦 performed "outstandingly" - despite the war!
