Annual job growth still stuck firmly in the negative - running just short of 30,000 below the same week last year. Misery compounds. (1/2)

In 2022, protestors hurled bricks, faeces at police & lit fires. Winston Peters said those protestors just wanted to be "heard" & shook their hands.

This week Peters called the mostly peaceful, law abiding Kiwis outside his home "gutless, spineless, [the] worst" protestors #nzpol
Faeces thrown at police at Parliament protest
Poo was pelted at officers during an early morning operation today to contain the protest at Parliament. The 3.30am operation caught the occupiers off guard with attempts to thwart the plan, resulting...

Just got sent this from an article by Bryce Edwards. This is completely false, and he never once fact-checked it with me. My campaign was run by me and my small volunteer team. Comments like this reflect a tired mindset that assumes women can’t succeed in politics without a man pulling the strings.

The Anatomy of influence - A Wellington case study
Many of the powerful vested interests behind local politicians are barely acknowledged. For example, how many Wellington voters knew that the current Mayor of Wellington, Tory Whanau, had her successful 2022 campaign essentially run by corporate lobbyist Neale Jones?
Jones co-owns and operates the Capital Government Relations firm with fellow political commentator Ben Thomas. The firm is the epitome of the "revolving door"

Government to starve teens and their parents of resources to meet targets is par for the course, they kicked people out of energency housing onto the street to meet energency housing targets, people are being refused specialist health appointments to meet health targets…the list goes on #NZpol
Govt to meet 9% of Jobseeker target by taking teens off benefit
The design of the new Jobseeker policy incentivises parents of unemployed teenagers to work fewer hours, for fear of the teens losing their benefit.

The NZ Drug Foundation has a major new report pressing the case for a replacement of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, which turns 50 this month. Thing is, its recommendations – for a complete realignment to health, not criminalisation and punishment, are ... drugfoundation.org.nz/topics/polic...
Safer drug laws
We need safer drug laws for Aotearoa New Zealand - our new report sets out a pragmatic, evidence-based way forward.

Andrew Hoggard says he will allow cancer-linked glyphosate to be increased by 100 x in our food production.

He's also ignored a High Court order telling farmers to remove cruel farming practices around pigs - extending the 2025 due date out by 10 years. This is ACT #nzpol #kiwi

The article called Edwards' a left wing pundit.... Not sure about that.... I'd have thought centre right, given his takes on issues over the years....

Property is back on the menu, boys!

Thanks RBNZ and National Coalition - let's put productive investment back into non-productive assets. Extra: a central bank's core remit is inflation - not economic growth or fiscal policy failures #nzpol #kiwi

No-one likes Christopher Luxon. Reportedly a dud at Air NZ, he lost millions for the airline & was hyper focused on short term cost cutting.
Worse, he took the Nat role at the behest of Trump supporter John Key, and has been running the country like a biz & failing NZ since #nzpol

I would wager that a large proportion of the adults who think this is a good idea have kids who are over 20 and who dislike them intensely. It reeks of paternalistic, condescending, control.

Fucksake. It's quite clear now that they only looked at this benefit policy as political marketing and took no advice on who it would impact – which includes young people with serious health issues and disabilities. Just feckless and cynical. Shame on them. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Hundreds of teens with a health condition, disability may be cut from Jobseeker benefit
The government is ending Jobseeker payments to 18- and 19 year olds whose parents earn more than $65,000.

Cantabrians, are going to enjoy more cow piss nitrates in their drinking water. It's probably carcinogenic, but apparently economically worth it....

Plans for 18,000 more dairy cows in Canterbury have been revealed.

In a nitrate emergency, the there should be a reduction in cow numbers, not MORE dairy expansion.
