@sundaedivine.lol TCM has "Term of Trial" Sunday at 10AM ET.Stars Laurence Olivier in one of his greatest film performances as a meek school teacher, unjustly accused of having sexual relations with a female student. As opposed to a classical approach,Olivier underplays this role. And he's magnificent😊

After Trump is gone -permanently this time - a statue like this could commemorate the end of this horrible era - colossal "The Motherland Calls",celebrating Soviet victory over the Nazis at Stalingrad.Which many consider the turning point of WW2.Nothing "quite" this grandiose. But in the same spirit🙂

In "Chimes At Midnight",Welles' recreation of the Battle of Shrewsbury,in which Gielgud's King routs his enemies, has been lauded as the single greatest battle scene in film history, before it was finally matched by "Saving Private Ryan",30 yrs later. It is grim and brutal. Pure chaos. Unforgettable
January 10, 2026 at 5:34 AM
TCM shows "Chimes At Midnight" every so often. Some consider it to be the greatest of all Shakespearean films. Gielgud,as the King, Keith Baxter,as Prince Hal,are both superb. And Welles himself is amazing as Falstaff. Perhaps the role he was born to play. Ever seen it,Kris?

@soxonthebrain.bsky.social @soxonthebrain.bsky.social Henry Daniell goes way back. A fine actor, with a distinctive, gravelly voice, sounding not unlike a crypt door slowly opening. One of his best roles was in 1945's "The Body Snatcher".He played Dr. MacFarlane opposite Karloff's grave robber #cinemon
