Bristol remains one of the few places in the country to continue to provide a fully funded Council Tax Reduction Scheme (CTRS) after councillors approved the approach for 2026/27: news.bristol.gov.uk/press-releas...
A graphic saying “COUNCIL TAX
REDUCTION SCHEME PROTECTED:
FOR 31,000 RESIDENTS.
Fill in the council's consultation.

I am really pleased to support this campaign and to be a joint signatory with @carla_denyer .

No-one should have to choose between getting the bus to vital appointments, and paying for other essentials like phone credit, clothing or legal documents. Along with @edplowden.bsky.social I've written to @mayorhelengodwin.bsky.social to call for free bus travel for asylum seekers.

More good transport news, #Bristol 🎉

“We’re introducing earlier morning services across the city to support shift workers, and adding hourly night buses on Fridays, Saturdays and bank holiday Sundays to help people get home safely and support Bristol’s night time economy.” – @edplowden.bsky.social
Planned changes including new overnight buses now in effect
Councillor Ed Plowden says the new changes will "help people get home safely"

We're really pleased to see Overton Road open for business, with a major project to reclaim the space for people and local businesses completed on schedule!

@edplowden.bsky.social says the works have “completely transformed” the street: news.bristol.gov.uk/press-releas...
Councillors Tim Wye, Ed Plowden and Emma Edwards sit at a table on the pavement outside Perfecto coffee, while a member of staff stands in the doorway. View of people walking and chatting in the newly-pedestrianised street, with local businesses in the background.

Amazing footage of our very own steel elliptical arched bow string bridge with diagonal bracing and lattice infilled parapets. Also known as the Banana Bridge! Sadly someone has already tagged it, such a shame. We will ret and keep in top of it.

I love the simple truth of these black and white drawings starkly illustrating greenwashing.

Such an important feature on TotalEnergies by ITV Cycling and Matt Rendell on the Tour de France rest day programme this evening. In support: a repost of this drawing.
Cycling jerseys, drawing in black and white with text as follows:
- 'Petro-chemical company causing climate change'
- 'Country where prisoners are tortured'
- 'Do some gambling'
- 'State with terrible human rights record'
- 'Oil company that downplayed the risks from climate change for three decades'
- 'Sponsoring cycling makes us look green and ethical'

I am pleased to see that the resurfaced and more clearly marked bike lane in Bristol City Centre seems to be working better. We are monitoring it closely to see what further improvements may be needed. @Chris_Boardman @BristolCouncil @BristolCycling

It’s literally the job of government to regulate. Markets especially.

Every MP who voted to plunge disabled people into poverty should be ashamed. This should be a millstone that follows them for the rest of their careers.

Green MP @carladenyer.bsky.social was the ONLY Bristol MP to vote against the cuts.

Vote Labour get Tory.

Government makes big concessions to avoid welfare bill defeat
MPs approved the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill but only after ministers made big changes.

There's always a cartoon by @andy-singer.bsky.social that nails it.
A two-panel cartoon by Andy Singer. In the upper panel, titled "public investment", there's a road system, congested bumper to bumper with cars and lorries. The second panel, titled "wasteful subsidy" shows a tram.

Great work by ⁦‪@BristolCouncil‬⁩, a councillor and a local resident
Unauthorised billboards removed

These advertising hoardings were erected without any planning permission in Totterdown, degrading the local environment. Really glad to see the company being forced to remove them by @bristolcouncil.bsky.social planning enforcement team. @adblockbristol.bsky.social

I agree and I will try and get it removed, that sign has no place in our city. I think it is advisory as not red.
Bringing a paper to committee about managing roadworks later this year to try and eradicate this sort of thing

It’s incredibly ambiguous. I might say yes if I want all bus and bike lanes, 20mph etc ripped out, or yes if I want a lot more.
