When I was 17 in 1985 and at school I had an old 1973 Mark IV Triumph Spitfire. I loved that car, but at that age I couldn’t afford to keep it on the road. 40 years on and in the UAE now a 1977 Triumph Spitfire 1500 is for sale. Someone stop me!

Today I watched a documentary about the French rally driver Michele Mouton, what an incredible driver. She is 73 years old now and long retired. What I couldn’t grasp was the fact that I knew very little about her.

So when we were kids, we had quite dramatic changes in fashion and music. Disco to Punk to Ska / Mod to New Wave to Metal to New Romantics to Indie to Britpop to grunge. What happened to youth culture? Did the major music influenced fashions just evaporate as the internet became more popular?
