I make things happen. Usually when it is least opportune to do so. And for the least possible benefit.

I repost b/c bookmarks are not existent.

He/Him, but you could have inferred that from the quality of my interactions.
Yesterday I learned just how sophisticated the Apeture return on a Minolta SRT-101 really is.

.... Its a bit of string on a pully.

.... It's awesome.

Who's your favorite Jedi? (Wrong answers only)

When you think the camera is broken but it's actually just the auto exposure working correctly.

Seriously, I thought the camera was broken, possibly dead; but it was just stopping me from shooting on too high a speed with too little light.

Fair. It isn't always clear if replies are restricted or outright disabled. My bad for missing that.

....

Or maybe it's super clear just not in a portion of the screen I typically look.

.... Doesn't mean replies are completely Enabled either.

For context, if the post vanishes for me or for everyone for some reason.

Arkanoid! As INTENDED.
September 4, 2025 at 1:55 AM
.... I was going to say Atari 2600 controller, but thats too basic. I'm leaning towards tabletop pinball machine....

Or the much more esoteric Magiclantern Modded Canon EOS series Camera.

The mod adds a bunch of useful features, and Arkanoid! So it's a handheld console!

THIS is how you do minimalism.

APPLE.

You fucking pricks.

Packaging is dogshit these days.

This is an extension tube for an Exakta SLR. Prob 1950's or 60's.

Exakta is a German Brand.

The box transmits this info to you.

Accura was a distro imprint of no real import, but they knew branding goddammit!

That font! The colours! THE ALTERNATING FONT COLOURS!

.......

Hm.
August 27, 2025 at 5:52 AM
HA! TRIUMPH. BOW BEFORE ME!

THE LENS IS A METAPHOR!

.... FOR GENITALIA.

MINE.
August 27, 2025 at 5:49 AM
..... Dead serious.

The visuals and the SOUNDS when a grub would DEVOUR your ant who went down the wrong hole.....

Even the image of the grub on the back of the box...

Just NO.

Like WHY doesn't the ring attach! You would have to swap out ALL if these components to change the mount. C-Mount FFD is one of the shortest already!
August 24, 2025 at 1:52 AM
An additional issue is that the the flat base of the lens is integral to the mount. The C-mount is NOT attached to the barrel of the lens. It is HELD IN PLACE by the screw on base onto the end of the barrel. If the mount lost the internal rubber o-ring or shims IT WOULD NOT FOCUS CORRECTLY.
August 24, 2025 at 1:48 AM
Like 4.5 hours and 2 blisters later.... It FITS.

The problem was the flat base of the lens meant the reinforcement bolstering on the ring prevented it from flush fitting, and the C-S Adaptor changes the flange focal distance which prevents the lens from focusing.

SO SANDING IT IS.
August 24, 2025 at 1:37 AM
I lack access to a sander that I could risk damaging or a sander suited to this. And a file or rasp would have been too severe. A saw would have been too imprecise. SO I HAND SANDED IT.

..... It did take over an hour before I geabbed gloves and a sanding board.
August 24, 2025 at 1:35 AM
This lens is a c-mount, but has a flat base because it is designed to work with a C-D adaptor ring for CCD camera.

So that meant had to turn a C-Mount to E-Mount adaptor from this...

To THAT.

Many a tale. Alltho not typically as literal as this.
August 16, 2025 at 5:02 AM
Final fun fact! The praktica IV, unlike all the other cameras seen here (and most SLRs in general), does NOT have automatic mirror return.

The mirror is only DOWN when the camera is primed with the film advance.

If you want to look thru the viewfinder, YOU ARE TAKING A PIC! MAYBE NOT NOW BUT SOON.
August 14, 2025 at 4:52 PM
SUPRISE BITCH! HIDDEN EXTRA ADVANCE LEVER!

Yes, both the knob and the lever can advance the film. The lower lecer doesn't move when the top knob is used.
