I just generally feel like a lot of big boardgames could stand to cut 1-2 turns of play though, so that’s just my taste.

Maybe it’s very Old Man Gamer Brain of me, but I feel like the starting turns could be condensed/crunched a bit, perhaps as an optional advanced mode for experienced players, since it felt like a lot of digging around for viable cards and a strategy.
