Reflection on a personal commitment to #endAIDS epidemic. 1-5

Between 2000 - 2001, I was a medical doctor with @msffrance in #Bentiu, a small village in #SouthSudan, which has since developed into a town. My responsibilities included treating acute illnesses, gun-injuries, & severe malnutrition.

Young me in 2000 a clinician in #Bentiu South Sudan. I helped @msf.bsky.social opening an emergency health program. Our clinic and a therapeutic #feeding centre, that served some 60K of people who were displaced by the war.

More than 61,000 dead in Khartoum state alone, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine's Sudan Research Group finds: 26,000 of them killed as a direct result of the violence. Leading cause of death across Sudan is preventable disease and starvation.
