Writer, dawdler. SF Peninsula.
A supremely flammable environment. Later, that's where I read Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.

It was at an all-night coffee shop that had been a department store — seemingly abandoned in the '60s, maybe? The show was upstairs, and they're playing in front of a wall of hundreds of boxes of deadstock shoes. In my memory, people are smoking; it's a miracle any of us lived, honestly.

Oh my god, I've been trying to describe this show to people for 25 years; I can't believe there's video of it

Wasn't Bane the one who was pegging guys with basketballs after the ball was dead?

My first instinct is that it's melanoma and he should see a dermatologist yesterday — I think this every time I catch it out of the corner of my eye. (It's a tattoo of a coin from the side; I have done a careful look.)

We didn't feel cool, but low-key, we felt like she was kind of having a bad time with the polyamory 😭

I recently found out that the singer from Geese's mom is the author of the polyamory memoir my book club read ("More") and I do not know what to do with this information.

I asked our old copy chief, and neither of us could remember a formal definition.

At the San Mateo County Times, we didn't cover news from Mountain View (or Palo Alto, taking the "county" part seriously), but Palo Alto and MV were usually covered in the arts/features section. Palo Alto was unambiguously Peninsula, and Mountain View was soft Peninsula.

In seriousness, I thought all the Texas universities let the bonfire thing go after the A&M disaster in 1999 (12 students were killed)

Oh this is just what I'm looking for, actually! I've spent months telling people how much money Scofield Thayer spent putting out The Dial. Thank you!

(Also I've just sent your Wattpad article to like five people; it's fantastic and I fully gasped at the bit about Oprah's Book Club)

I don't even understand the scale of money this would take. I mean, is it "buy a senator" money?

Maybe I should have taken one (1) finance class, but it was all, "no, the Romantic poets are important" —

(This is a serious question)

Thank you!!!

Sorry to jump in, but I've been thinking about poet canonization for months. Do you have any recs about things I could read to understand more?

She's correct that an effective formal "poster's strike" is highly unlikely, but she fails to recognize that the lightning bottles here is a culturally influential user base that came here to escape unchecked hatemongers and aren't going to stay on a site that allows them for long.
