I was raw vegan for a time, which is MUCH less extreme than raw fruitarian, back before the influencer ecosystem was in its modern form. One thing that really stood out to me was the people claiming that menstruation was the body shedding toxins and therefore it was good and healthy for it to stop.

Many of the raw vegans I spoke to said Karolina's death had nothing to do with her diet. They believe she died because she refused help and essentially lost the will to live. Many declined to speak w/ me, fearing the story would reflect poorly on the community. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

After a few months in Bali, Karolina checked into a retreat in the outskirts of Ubud. She was so weak the staff had to turn her over in bed. She was found dead on Dec. 11, 2024. She was just 27 years old. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.
