HELLO! I’m writing an essay about the Most Cringe Thing I’ve ever Written (TM) — trying to talk to writers who are Online to share as well. The idea is to have a space to be reflective about having an online footprint/how you’ve grown since writing the Cringe Thing. DM me if you’d like to chat!

SCOOP — Pennsylvania prosecutors were alerted to possible voting irregularities by one of MAGA's leading voices against voter fraud. A long paper trail shows Jack Posobiec has been living in Maryland but voting using his parents' PA address for years.

From @jsweetli.bsky.social, @slate.com + me:
MAGA’s “Voter Fraud” Watchdog Votes in a Swing State. He Doesn’t Live There.
A long paper trail shows that Jack Posobiec casts a ballot in one state and lives in another.

I wrote a book! It’s called One Bad Mother. There’s an essay on trad wives. There’s one on Casey Anthony. And there’s one on Dance Moms. It’s the only book brave enough to ask: “what if bad mom…actually good?”

It’s coming out in February 2026. Preorder here: www.simonandschuster.com/books/One-Ba...

Years ago, I was working on what seemed like a fun little story on fruitarians and then after like two phone calls, I learned it was deadly. Food 'purity' is a myth www.thecut.com/article/karo....

Karolina Krzyzak went to Bali to meet the raw-vegan influencers she’d followed for years. She never made it back home.

I was raw vegan for a time, which is MUCH less extreme than raw fruitarian, back before the influencer ecosystem was in its modern form. One thing that really stood out to me was the people claiming that menstruation was the body shedding toxins and therefore it was good and healthy for it to stop.

Karolina spent years idolizing raw vegan influencers on Instagram. She went to Bali to meet them — and never came home.

My deep dive on fruitarianism — a group of wellness influencers who exclusively eat raw fruit — is up on @nymag.com @thecut.com today. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

This piece took eight months to write and report, and I hope more than anything else it did Karolina's story justice. She was a beautiful spirit who deserved better.

What seems evident, however, is Karolina took the cultural obsession w/ clean eating and purity to a dangerous extreme. One former raw vegan deeply regrets introducing her to the lifestyle: "She was healing, & she took a step back because my ED was feeding hers." www.thecut.com/article/karo...
ejdickson.bsky.social
Many of the raw vegans I spoke to said Karolina's death had nothing to do with her diet. They believe she died because she refused help and essentially lost the will to live. Many declined to speak w/ me, fearing the story would reflect poorly on the community. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

After a few months in Bali, Karolina checked into a retreat in the outskirts of Ubud. She was so weak the staff had to turn her over in bed. She was found dead on Dec. 11, 2024. She was just 27 years old. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

Some offered to help Karolina recover on a raw vegan diet. She met Jenn Peach, an influencer who claimed she could heal women w/ EDs, asking to stay w/ her. Jenn said no. “It was too much on my nervous system to be around someone that I think is going to die," she said www.thecut.com/article/karo...

When she got to Bali, it was nothing like she expected. Her weight was also dangerously low. She refused to go to the hospital or see a doctor, and she was deeply depressed. "It would have been better to die than try to manifest something beautiful," she told a friend. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

A fan of spiritual influencers like Teal Swan, Karolina dreamed of going to Bali, the epicenter of the raw vegan community. She told friends she wanted to live w/ with her "soul fam" in the tropics, where she could eat coconut and watermelon all day. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

As she became more isolated, Karolina's health declined. On Facebook, she frequently posted in raw vegan groups w/ questions about her crumbling fingernails or rotting teeth. The answer was always the same: get more sun, eat more fruit. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

Karolina Krzyzak, 27, was an aspiring influencer from Poland who struggled with anorexia. When she found fruitarianism, she became deeply immersed in the community, despite the concerns of her family and friends. Her posts show her rapidly wasting away. www.thecut.com/article/karo...

The really hilarious thing about the whole Kimmel debacle is Disney adults love Bob Iger, when he came back to the CEO they were like “hallelujah woke is back”

I frequently feel ashamed about being a Disney adult but this is pretty much the height of it

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

Suddenly "hate speech" is bad. Suddenly "dehumanizing" people is bad. Suddenly "cancel culture" is good. Suddenly words have consequences.

The modern American right in 2025, folks.
