The decline in long-form reading and thinking is already manifest in doctoral programs where students no longer read “whole books” and extended arguments. This author portrays a “post rational age” and its dire consequences for societies already in evidence.

Multistate lawsuit seeks to reverse Trump admin purge of federal workers - The Washington Post The cruelty and chaos engendered by mass layoffs, firings, and terminations from the federal workforce is now being resisted by state attorneys general. This is a welcome development.

It is almost subversive now to insist that one’s teaching and learning constitutes a “technology-free” and entirely human process. Music offers the possibility of a wonderful break from the constant technology and allows people to interact entirely personally with voices and acoustic instruments.

Ifill’s observation is important. Four star heads of the Coast Guard, Army, and Navy—two women and a black man regarded as DEI hires were fired and an unqualified retired three star general was nominated as Chair of the Joint Chiefs. A shameful politicization of the armed forces leadership.

The notion of Trump chairing the board of the Kennedy Center is preposterous and should be strenuously opposed by the board, musicians and artists, and the public. The mind boggles at the thought of POTUS opining on anything artistic from the depths of his ignorance.
