my personal most unwatched Lynch film

Surprised no one has mentioned Blue Velvet

truly well done and miserable movie making of the highest quality. the face smashing scene still fucks with me to this day after 1 viewing. will never watch again.

Pan's Labyrinth
We literally went BACK to the store after picking it up and watching it, bought a SpongeBob box set and watched the whole thing just to remember joy existed again

name a flick other than requiem for a dream that you will never watch again not because you think its trash but more because you just cant put yourself through it again
el-p.bsky.social
opening scene alone makes it a 1 watch film

The Wrestler
I think it actually took a part of my soul away. Same for Neverending Story.
el-p.bsky.social
i mean.. its ambitious. gotta give it that.
el-p.bsky.social
this movie can in fact be amazing on the right night. it can also be very, very annoying on the wrong one.
sgtwaddles42.bsky.social
Oh, this is hard...

Speed Racer fucking slaps, idgaf what anybody says

lastly, name a movie you didn't bother to see when it came out because everyone hated it but then you saw it at home later and you really fucked with it and it made you wonder if you were the problem or society was. i’ll start with ALI.

banger

Death to Smoochy was savaged by the critics but became a personal favorite when it hit DVD.
el-p.bsky.social
doesn’t help that the sequel was jingoistic horse shit
destrolisher.bsky.social
I think it's Sicario for me, I can watch clips but I don't know if I could handle the intensity again

the whale falls in to the category of film that was so lauded that i just wasn’t interested in seeing it. i can’t explain myself but it’s true. maybe something about everyone just trying really hard repels me a bit awno 🤷‍♂️

The Whale. Great fucking movie. My wife and I went saw it then sat in silence for 45 mins grabbing a bite to eat after the movie.

American History X. Apocalypse Now.
el-p.bsky.social
💯 will never watch this again but it’s ill
el-p.bsky.social
i back that order although… i might put alien resurrection before aliens, honestly. i’m weird though. honestly i never much liked aliens. went from creepy sci fi to jingoistic american bro action in james camerons hands.
el-p.bsky.social
i meant lead role.

my 2nd least fav kubrick film and i think it was tom who tainted it for me at the time. plus that kubrick died and the studio finished the edit… that shit just made it weird for me. but im due for a rewatch and am open to changing my mind. i do love me some kubrick.
el-p.bsky.social
yeah him and gilliam have been cranking out some end of career stinkers no question, to name a few. but both will always get a look from me based on catalog.
el-p.bsky.social
prolly the only tom cruise movie i can still watch.
lushka16.bsky.social
The Edge of Tomorrow

the list of bangers is real though.
el-p.bsky.social
all i know is when i saw it in the theatre it had the chest burst/hug and fall finale then somewhere along the line the end was changed and made it not as good. not sure what the deal is with that.
shaihuludacris.bsky.social
Assembly cut is much better than theatrical in my opinion. Think it has more Fincher stuff intact.

giving the gift of taste even if you have to force it on them. i respect it.

Brazil is a Christmas tradition in this house. My family hates it, but that's neither here nor there
el-p.bsky.social
huh.i have watched brazil 100s of times & if you think crimes of the future is the definitive cronenberg film you have missed a lot. unless you mean future cronenberg films which is more forgivable but nah he deserves the benefit of the doubt forever. he swings and misses sometimes but he earned it.
jakobohlhorst.bsky.social
I just watched Brazil, won’t again.
Also preemptively (never watching) any Cronenberg, half of Crimes of the Future was enough
