Beckett? An endless cycle of of nonsensical conversation? Hmm, that doesn't sound right, he usually writes all those silly door-slamming farces.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

When the place to sit you like even better than your blue chair becomes available.

The quality of the sequels has nothing to do with the quality of the original. Jaws is in no possible imaginable way "ruined" by how bad Jaws: The Revenge is. Just...don't watch the sequels?

The name of the place itself. Visitors say "Colo-rah-do," with the "a" as in "spa," which is of course the more proper pronunciation of the original Spanish word; natives say "Colo-rad-o," with the "a" as in "spam."

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

And in the end, it absolutely will not matter one whit that they do this, because no matter what they do, Trump will still rant and rave about the biased liberal media and complain about how NBC News is "very nasty to me" and such, and the MAGA crowd will eat it up.
etruscansnood.bsky.social
Organizations like NBC News have a journalistic responsibility to say things like "Portland is clearly not in any way, shape or form 'a war-ravaged hellhole' and Trump's claims to the contrary are lies," but they have entirely abdicated this responsibility in their terror of appearing "biased."
etruscansnood.bsky.social
It's always, for ten goddamn motherfucking years now, "Trump exaggerated," "Trump claimed without evidence," "some critics disagree with Trump's statement," and such, even when he's shitting out the most absolutely outrageous bald-faced lies.
etruscansnood.bsky.social
One of the things that got us to where we are today is the widespread myth of the "biased liberal media" beginning in the mid-'90s, which has resulted in mainstream news organizations being absolutely terrified to call obvious Republican bullshit for what it is, lest they come off as "biased."
marisakabas.bsky.social
no they're LITERALLY exaggerating this issue. there is absolutely no data backing up their claims. ffs just say that!!
NBC news: The discussions come as Trump has sought to deploy National Guard troops in several major cities — including Los Angeles, Chicago and Portland, Oregon — saying they’re needed to reduce crime and protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials from protesters. Critics have said that the Trump administration is exaggerating issues in those cities.

Same for California. The traditional California division into Northern and Southern definitely fails to recognize things like the Bay Area being something very different from the far north and its State of Jefferson weirdos.

If you had told me when I learned about it how often I would one day think about the bloated, bullet-riddled corpse of Benito Mussolini strung up by the heels in the town square to be pelted by rocks, eggs and assorted rotten produce, I definitely wouldn't have believed you, but here we are.

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that
