While in the art space some of the children were interested in the reaction between the salt, water and paint while creating their paintings. “Look it’s changing colour” QC, “it’s sticking” SB. Together we looked at a STEAM book, discussing different experiences we could try within nursery.

The children decided to turn the mud kitchen into a cafe! We added natural resources, lots of containers, water and a chalkboard with chalk to extend and enhance their play.

Interest has continued in weighing and measuring, with lots of team work and discussion at the sand tray. We used the bucket balance to discover the effects of filling and emptying each side, using mathematical discussions to reach our goal.

We have been exploring our emotions and discussions different ways to regulate them. The children are making good use of resources on display in our quiet corner which have inspired positive discussions among friends.

While exploring the outdoor environment this week some of the children had a discussion around building a new obstacle course SB+RW “i am making it for the big kids and little kids“ the children were developing their awareness of safety while offering challenge to the children who are more confident

While tidying the books under the arch we realised we didn’t have a lot of storage space for our books to enable the children to see the variety to choose from. Some children showing their problem solving skills suggested we build a bookcase

Over the last couple of weeks our children have shown fantastic independence as they put on their own wetsuits and wellies. With a little teamwork and lots of determination, they proudly got ready by themselves—building confidence, resilience, and self-help skills along the way.” #selfhelpskills

Outside play dough play was full of creativity as children explored natural resources—leaves, acorn tops, twigs, and stones—to shape and decorate their creations. We added scissors to encourage fine-motor development, and the children confidently practised their cutting skills as they worked.”

Yesterday a group of children used loose parts to design their own seesaw, experimenting with tyres and planks to get the balance just right. Through teamwork, problem-solving, and plenty of creativity, they explored how things work and took pride in building it themselves.” #creativity

Many children enjoyed learning about Remembrance Day and making their own poppies. Great concentration and fine motor skills were used to make their own poppies. Some took a walk to see the poppies at the cenotaph in Denny.

We explored the reaction of wax crayon with watercolour paint. We spoke about why the paint “doesn’t stick” and what else we could use it for. We made “secret Halloween“ pictures

A group of children observed the changes in our vegetable garden after the holidays. “It’s got bigger” DH, “there’s a turnip” AM, “what’s that green thing?” FM showing their curiosity to explore the changes and what had caused it. We began to harvest them, discussing how we knew they were ready.(KC)

Some families joined Mrs Cassels for some fun, family interaction singing time. Great singing and laughter was had by all.The “little frog on the pond” action song proved to be the most popular of the day. Well done and thank you to all the adults for enthusiastically joining in with the children.

A group of children explored trajectory by launching foam rockets with a foot pump. They tested how angle and force affected height and distance, excitedly discussing the outcome of each launch. MMcK - ”mines goes super far”

A group of curious children explored STEM by growing their own salt crystals. They created a countdown calendar, eagerly ticking off each day as they watched the crystals slowly form over a week. Thanks to S. who brought in some tomatoes that he had grown at home to share with his friends and the nursery staff.These tomatoes came from a small tomato plant that S. had bought from our nursery plant sale.The tomatoes were delicious.Well done S. #foodforthought #marvellousmeals
