The battle for Damascus started today, and I expect it to conclude by the end of the weekend. I highly doubt Assad is still there, and much of Syria is still left for various opposition groups to take. But the end is clearly in sight.

Assad is allegedly to have fled Syria for Iran, after his regime today faced down a coup and much of the cabinet walking out.

The old "reconciled" areas of south Syria, especially Daraa governorate, have risen up in rebellion once more today, after years of a low level insurgency. They're already meeting with much success, reclaiming much of the border with Jordan almost immediately.

Rebels have also seized a lot of ground elsewhere in Daraa governorate, as well as in neighboring Quneitra governorate. Local Druze forces and more run of the mill rebel forces have also taken territory in Suwayda governorate.
