People finally stop
To talk to each other - the neighbors

We didn't know were always here.
Today they are ready for business,
Armed with a new vocabulary,

[…]

The shift of the wind matters again,
And we are so simple, so happy to hear
The scrape of a shovel next door.

So few grains of happiness
measured against all the dark
and still the scales balance.

The world asks of us
only the strength we have and we give it.
Then it asks more, and we give it.

“[…] We know too much
and too little. Does the breeze need us?
The cliffs? The gulls?
If you’ve managed to do one good thing,
the ocean doesn’t care.
But when Newton’s apple fell toward the earth,
the earth, ever so slightly, fell
toward the apple.”

Today in Cattle Thing Can Help: “I know you’re working so I brought you my toy so we can play while you work.”

A very happy six months of life to Wayout’s Gone Loud, called Gideon, and sibs. Apocalypse days call for apocalypse dogs, and it’s an honor and brings me such joy to watch this little one learn who she is.

My favorite part of life with cattle things today is that every time I ask a dog, “What are you doing?” the answer is I HELP BETTER in the least helpful but most sincere way possible. Cleaning the yard? Chopping potatoes? Retrieving a ball from inside the temp fencing (again)? Cattle thing can help!

Transported some sandwiches at a different polling place this evening and was awarded another sticker. Just to write a thousand times on the chalkboard, “I will not troll the internet with an extended voted-twice bit,” before they’d let me leave.

Almost forgot to grab a sticker, but the poll workers had my back.

T vibes so husky now that I have a houseful of cattle dogs, which is wild given that he’s really quite cattle doggy by comparison when hanging with literally anything else.

When I talk about Gideon’s “you see this shit?” check-in face, is what I mean. Cracks me up every. Single. Time.
