If I stopped buying products because I don't like a company's politics, I'd never buy anything. Therefore I was like, "let's try this out"
Thumbs fucking down dude. This is straight-up thousand island dressing with two spoons of sugar. I can't imagine what this would be good for. It's very bad.

Anytime I make food, tango sits in a specific spot, waiting for treats. I don't always make tango-food though, so he gets this a lot.

He doesn't deserve it. He's the most polite little guy in the world but it's always funny to flip off pets or babies.

I don't own many x-men comics. This absolutely destroyed copy came out when I was 9 years old. Introduction of the poorly named villain, NIMROD and has Rogue absorbing the powers of a bunch of x-men to defeat him.

Part of a text to a good old buddy. He asked to put it on my tombstone. I told him he can put a sticker on the jam jar they keep my ashes and throw it at traffic.

My buddy K described him as having big dreamy green galaxy eyes and I can't think of a better way to say it. When I die, he's going to be very sad.

My beloved cat Tango isn't totally blind but he's got some problems and talks a lot. He's really cute if you get to know him. Anyway, we have a few bugs in the house. He knows it is his job to kill them but can't see very well so he just runs around, swiping at ghosts and telling us about it.

Continuing my read of Akira. I'm doing the kodansha volumes but can't find volume 5 for some reason. I don't buy stuff from the internet and I just expect book stores to have the shit I want so maybe I'm the problem. Anyway, this panel made me laugh.

One last thing. The title box looks rad and all the non-monster characters on the cover look like they're mid orgasm... pretty cool

Anyway, Blevins is trying to draw like Art Adams and that's a bummer but he obviously just wants to draw cool monsters and crazy faces. He's pretty good at that stuff.

Here's an ad for some dumb shit. This little boy built a toy car and all the little girls are horny for it. Two thumbs up. Makes total sense.
July 26, 2025 at 6:54 PM
It's interesting how influential Arthur Adams was at the time... I don't think he's "under rated" or anything but it seems like a lot of people were aping him and it's obvious in this issue.

Cannonball is invulnerable when blasting, which I think we can all relate to.

Here we have an interesting specimen. I read some of the bill sink issues but this is after my time. Louise Simonson writing. Brett Blevins drawing. Terry Austen ink. I'll probably just talk about the drawing.

The Shadow (DC)
These 70's Shadow comics aren't bad story-wise. I think Denny O'Neil captures the pulpiness of the character pretty well. In this issue Kaluta gets his buddy Bernie Wrightson to help with some of the art.

This page made me laugh. Fictional stupid violence is funny to me. Sorry.
I didn't really like the three stooges as a kid but now I think it's funny to drag a saw against the top of curlie's head.

Fun little comic of short stories. Kaluta is great and he's credited as a writer and "art breakdowns" but I doubt he had much to do here.
I also think this cover is very funny. I wonder about the situation where The Shadow needed to pop out of a sewer with his gun drawn.

Here's a picture of the orange boy, Tango. Who are the good orange boys in fiction? Jones from Alien and Spot from Star Trek... who else?

Two other things about those spider-man comics. These are a direct market copies but still have the newsstand ink marking at the top.
Then there's an ad on the back where meatloaf and iron man are trying to save the special olympics.

This is that Kraven's Last Hunt stuff. Seems like I have a lot to say here. Don't think I've ever read the whole thing before...
July 12, 2025 at 4:50 PM
I think I watched all the Red Asphalt movies this way, except the last one, which I had to look up on yootoob

Ha. Here's a text I sent to my buddy, Renee, a couple of days ago.

Back to Fantastic 4 Unplugged which started all this. Usual complaints. The lettering is terrible and color is still pretty bad but it's on newsprint which mutes it a little. The tits and ass are out of control and the Thing looks less rocky and more like the goo-guy from Micronauts.

X-factor 113
The credit "guest penciler" isn't usually a good sign. There's also a thin-line inking from this period that doesn't do it for me. Look, making comics is hard and I don't expect them all to be great but there was just a lot of ugly shit happening at the time.

Cosmic Powers Unlimited Starring The Silver Surfer #2.
Some anthology comic I'd never heard of. The first story isn't great but the John Buscema story is drawn pretty well.
July 5, 2025 at 8:36 PM
Uncanny x-men 323. Bryan hitch doing passible Alan Davis knock-off. It's fine, just distracting once you notice. I should sell this because it's the introduction of the character named Sack.
