Part of the talk was how the author names characters- sometimes after people she knows or meets. So there's a character in the book named Carmen (my name!) and when she signed my book we had a funny little discussion about that. And then this is how she signed my book! 😆 I'm so delighted!!

In my Origins playthrough, I came across this field in one of the surprise encounters. And just.. what is going on here? I know its supposed to be pumpkins and tomato bushes but it really looks so much like a shitty Halloween & also Christmas display.. little Christmas trees.. hilarious

I got to meet Darcie Little Badger at WorldCon and have a couple books signed! Then saw her win a Lodestar at the Hugos for best young adult novel!! That's so exciting and I can't wait to read her books!!

I sprayed them with a couple layers of water proofing and then chicago screwed them to a belt with the rest of the skirts. They ended up being stiff but still flexible and kept the 3d shapes really well.

I tried a few different things and ended up creating the shapes using sewing pins, painting over it with fabric stiffener, and taking the pins out once mostly dry so it wouldn't dry with too stiff of shapes. A huge headache.

I never could find a vinyl or fabric that I was satisfied with the color so I painted it using Angelus leather paint in copper. 2 coats and a clear topcoat worked really well!

Once done, I sealed all those loose threads in with a solid backing and sewed the whole thing together.

This piece kinda drove me nuts because the screenshots show its puffy & quilted and I really wanted to get the number of quilted pieces to match the Inquisition screenshots exactly.. so I made a pattern for the shape of the whole thing and then basically cut it up to make each little piece.
