Remember: If unions didn’t matter, powerful corporations wouldn’t spend millions of dollars every year to stop workers from organizing. Keep up the fight.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too.

EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them.

Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)

Trump issues orders on K-12 ‘indoctrination,’ school choice and campus protests
One order also reinstates the 1776 Commission that Trump created during his first term in office to promote patriotic education.

The only reason ICE would be at schools is to take innocent children into custody in order to lure their parents. Family separation 2.0.

🚨 Los Angeles school police says it will not comply with ICE.

Don't know who said it first but it bears repeating—if you really don't think what Musk repeatedly did was a Nazi salute, please record yourself doing that exact thing and post it across all social media, and make sure your employer sees it.

Oh...is that awkward gesture too much now? Interesting.

Russia Hits Ukraine’s Energy on Christmas

A Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy grid left 500,000 without heat in Kharkiv, killed one, and wounded six. Zelensky condemned it as “inhumane.” Over 70 missiles and 100 drones launched; Ukraine intercepted nearly 60. Blackouts hit Kyiv and other regions.

Unions matter

CSEA reached a historic class action settlement guaranteeing compensation for classified workers who worked on Juneteenth in 2021, 2022, and/or 2023 & didn’t get the holiday rate of pay for that work.

Nearly 300 school district refused to bargain and are bound by the settlement.

The Bernie-Biden task force resulted in the Build Back Better agenda. In a normal democracy, it would've passed. It included:

- $15 minimum wage
- Free community college
- Universal pre-k
- Cap to out of pocket child care costs
- Subsizied elder care
- Taxes on the wealthy

It failed in the Senate.
Another (not totally mutually exclusive) way to think about the last four years: Democrats tried to enact an FDR sized agenda to deal with the threat of fascism and materially improve the lives of the working class, but our political system makes it impossible to pass a working class agenda.
one way to think about the dems in the last 8 years is that they wanted all the electoral benefits of being a popular front against authoritarianism but none of the substantive commitments
