Pauline with actual policies? “Please explain”. There were none in 1996 and still nothing rational, sensible or workable now.

Thank you! I spent 2 hours with him waiting for a script pre discharge. Have had this experience before. I wonder how much of the bed block from ambulances to ERs to wards is caused by patients ready for discharge, waiting hours for scripts. Won’t know for a few weeks if the reattachment has worked

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Putting this, especially the 3rd line, down to a nervous wait to see if an adult son’s op to reattach his accidentally partially torn off thumb has worked. 🤞🤞🤞

It might be easier to think not of the missing sock as “missing”, but of the one on which is “present”, but currently on its own, as an “extra” sock. Glass half full, until you find its mate, then it’s glass full!

Loved the book, read it twice: enjoyed it tremendously 1st time, wonderful & so moving, & then read it for bookclub, same result. Highly recommended!

And what has Australia agreed to re disposal/storage of the nuclear waste, esp the medium & high level waste, not just from the RAN’s boats but also UK & US boats? And has Aust agreed to storage of others nuclear weapons as part of a basing agreement?

It’s be interesting to know if any ICE agents keep their uniforms on when off-duty & engage in shakedowns/extortions. If ever released after paying up, their undocumented victims wouldn’t be complaining would they? But probably not ever released, just “disappeared”. How would anyone know?

Noticed in today’s Canberra Times that the Trumpet of Patriots “party” has applied to the Australian Electoral Commission register a name change to the “Australian Federation Party”. What’s behind that? Even the reference to Trump in “Trumpet” is too on the nose now?

On Australia Day “…perhaps it pays to ponder just where the nation might actually sit as a global citizen right now.
It’s hard to ignore the discomfiting voice that responds: in the lap of a superpower sliding into tyranny.”

27 May is another possibility for Australia Day. OTD in 1967 “Australians overwhelmingly voted to Australians voted to change the Constitution so that like all other Australians, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples would be counted as part of the population”

The 1967 Referendum
While many people think that the Referendum gave Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples the right to vote, this wasn’t the case.

As a nation we should be actively considering other dates, eg:
9th May - the date that both federal parliaments were opened, 1927 and 1988, with the added bonus that if we changed it by next year, it would mark the 100th anniversary of Australia getting its first purpose built federal parliament.

So true! Trump is not an outlier, he’s an outcome. But did those now outraged Americans, now complaining about him and his regime, some saying *they* didn’t vote for him, bother to get off their arses and vote for the other candidate?
