1/ For ProPublica’s “Life of the Mother” series, winner of the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for public service, we reported on five pregnant women who died after not receiving timely medical care in states with strict abortion bans.

These are their stories 🧵

Well, I'm realizing this is bigger than Trump. This is a systematic approach to deconstructing our constitution and representational government. Listening to interviews with conservatives believing in their God-given duty to control and correct our country, hence no town halls. Read project 2025.

I called my senator to ask her to support Lisa Murkowski this morning. She is the first one who has actually said this out loud. Think about that. Please call your senator as well. They are in fear for their lives and those of their families.
There is nothing comforting about “I’m just as scared as you” coming from the legislative branch that’s supposed to keep checks and balances on the executive. While she thought it was relatable, it is actually mortifying.

This is how you do it.

The "Mutual Academic Defense Compact".

The moral imperative may be to fight...

but the strategic imperative is to not fight alone:

If people can be deported or arrested without due process, the natural result is terror. We are all vulnerable, anyone, anytime. If there is no law, we are subject to the whims of the person who is bigger than the law.

This is the post by a conservative female opinion writer for USA today. Below is my response.
I'm tired of being mocked and hated because I'm a conservative woman | Opinion
In mainstream media, women like me are portrayed through a singular lens: Our conservative beliefs. As such, we are easy to hate, mock and scorn.

So the top vaccine official at FDA was pushed out, and the CDC buried an assessment that emphasized the need for vaccines to stop measles.

Here's what I said on the Senate floor just ahead of RFK Jr.'s confirmation vote. No Senator should pretend they didn't see this coming.

Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously.

Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that.

This is the one leak that got shared with someone who would share it with us. How many more leaks are out there?

Trump & Musk took a wrecking ball to the Dept of Education. I was in Shoreline to talk about what it could mean for YOU: school districts having to lay off teachers, students & families unable to get help with financial aid, & even local tax rates going UP.

Keep speaking up for public schools.

Former Vet Center therapist here. What sets combat PTSD aside from other forms is moral injury. Thousands, if not millions, of combat vets are getting that part of their trauma triggered by the destruction of the VA by two wealthy men who dodged the draft. Despicable!

Is that why Schumer rolled over? Remind him of this: Trump will come after him whether he obeys or not. He could go full Kapo and Trump would take him out for fun. There is no safety rolling over to an authoritarian threat.

I heard someone say that Trump was "on the phones" to legislators the other day. Let's be clear: that means he is threatening them and their families.

So I attended a telephone townhall meeting yesterday. but was disappointed that I didn't get to ask my question. I asked what the Democrats are doing about the stifling of dissent in the Congress and Senate? This is the crux of this whole nightmare. And I was not chosen to speak.

Question for Americans: Exactly what are we going to do with a country full of unemployed people? I don't understand this plan. Laid of federal workers, canceled contracts (more lay offs), private sector layoffs, closed facilities (more layoffs), tariffs (struggling businesses) you get the point.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.
