Your own words recognise financial control as abuse and dignity as a right.

The Partner Income Test violates both.
That’s not inconsistency it’s harm.

When the system knows you’re drowning and tightens the grip anyway, that’s not governance. it is cruelty dressed up as policy.

We’ve officially started work on the website for the End Partner Income Test campaign. Infrastructure matters. Progress continues.

So what is the government going to do about this?
Nothing.
That’s why advocates are stepping in and we’re not backing down.

Someone asked why people on DSP or other payments should get the full rate if their partner earns 80k. Because disability is individual. Support isn’t shared income. A partner’s wage isn’t guaranteed or safe to rely on.

Welfare reform doesn’t require new compassion. It requires evidence, autonomy, and the courage to stop punishing people for circumstances they didn’t choose.

No one should have to prove they’re “poor enough” to deserve safety.
The Partner Income Test is a system failure.

PIT isn’t a “relationship rule.”
It’s a poverty trap that punishes disabled people for proximity, not support.

If a system assumes care where none exists, it creates coercion, dependency, and harm.
That’s not policy failure. That’s design failure.

Disabled people deserve autonomy.
Full stop.

The campaign to end the Partner Income Test needs a website, which doesn't come cheap.

The rule reduces or cuts off your Centrelink income if you have a partner.

It needs to end.

Please see our fundraiser here and consider sharing.

The Partner Income Test produces trauma, not support. When a government maintains a policy that forces dependence and causes PTSD, it isn’t neutral it’s complicit.
