Always lovely to be featured in @theguardian.com. Thanks for the commission @mackeza.bsky.social! Really enjoyed my time in Nightreign, but lots missed the mark. A rare slip-up from FromSoftware in my opinion. Worth it if you're a Souls fan looking for multi tho www.theguardian.com/games/2025/m...
Elden Ring Nightreign review – FromSoftware brings multiplayer mayhem to the Lands Between
Fortnite meets Elden Ring in a matchup where a three-person team faces so many high-speed challenges you may feel distinctly short-handed

Just came across the lowest, most infuriating job posting ever. On making you write a full fucking cover letter, they ask not only for a custom several hundred-word writing sample, but also a link to an 'advertising video you've created' despite not stating either will be required in the job posting

@hern.bsky.social Hey Alex, just dropped you an email on this, but I've got a big topic I think you'd be interested in - can I drop you a DM?

Very proud to have written another piece for @theguardian.com this week. Give it a read if you're interested in Microsoft 'Muse' or AI gaming oblivion www.theguardian.com/games/2025/m...
Are AI-generated video games really on the horizon?
Microsoft and Google have both recently released new generative AI models that simulate video game worlds – with notable limitations. What can they do?

And some people still think there's not a misogyny problem in games. I Googled stuff around 'game developer hate' related to [topic] for article research. It ignored me but recognised I'd included 'gaming' and 'hate'. Top result?

Cry this from the rooftops! I was surprised when some loved ones said to me recently 'they had to try hard to save a lot of money back then too' and that 'there weren't so many luxaries like £5 coffees back then' - they just dont get it! www.youtube.com/shorts/tj9Zw...

I still occasionally think about how undervalued the performances of the English speaking cast must be in Sekiro... the game even tells you at the start that it's meant to be heard in Japanese and you have to consciously turn on the English dub 😅 (they smashed it btw)

Nine Sols more than sated my soulslike and metroidvania cravings during the long wait to Silksong. Don't sleep on it, fantastic game

I put to you that Sia's 'Snowman' is not a Christmas song, but just a song that ocassionally references snowmen, so we should stop including this vibe killer on Christmas playlists (it is kinda a bop, just not xmas vibes)

How's your day going? I just replied 'see you in the morning' when the butcher said 'see you later'. So safe to say I'm never going to recover

The Guardian Games Pushing Buttons newsletter is great, not least because I've been saying "an arrrrrmy marches on it's stomach" in an awful Scottish accent all morning after being reminded of the William Wallace campaign voice over in Age of Empires II

So weird humble brag but this is super surreal for me. I've just been sent a recording of a local radio show in Washington DC - @eitmonline.bsky.social - (host happens to also be called Elliot) from a couple weeks back, talking all about my WoW article in the Guardian. Life is crazy sometimes 😂

Now that I'm back after a week travelling I finally have time to take this photo! I will never stop harping on about how proud I am to have this published in the Guardian. Thanks to everyone who helped get it there, especially to
@thewindstalker.bsky.social for sharing your story!

Would love to make the full switch to BlueSky (honestly, I was never that active on Twitter anyway), but selfishly I'm conscious that I built a network there over many years and I'm a touch sad to lose those connections - does anyone have any tips on how to build that sort of network here too?

Playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard has had me thinking 'damn, I really should've replayed Inquisition first' so much... that I just redownloaded DA:I. Feels weird to put a playthrough of a new game on hold for a ten year old one though. Still, might romance Solas for the ⭐️lore⭐️

So, regrettable that it's taken me so long to post here, but seeing as Twitter is still a cesspit, I thought I'd try and be a bit more active! Hello people!
