True solidarity means holding two truths at once:
– October 7th was a massacre.
– Gaza is a genocide.

“Stop the marches” we heard at a vigil. Translation: silence pro-Palestine solidarity. But criticising Israel ≠ antisemitism. Equating the two protects state violence, not Jewish lives. The far right thrives on this confusion.

October 7th was horrific. Civilians murdered, families destroyed. But grief has been weaponised since. Israel’s government used it to justify the mass killing of Palestinians. One atrocity cannot excuse another. Selective grief isn’t solidarity. It’s hierarchy.

The Manchester synagogue attacks show us something brutal: antisemitism is alive, violent, and must be fought. But if we only confront hate when Jews are the target — and ignore Islamophobia or the genocide in Gaza — we’re not fighting hate. We’re managing it.
