my friend Jamie is one of the most talented people I have met in New York. this album she released a few days ago has shades of Adrianne Lenker and Sybille Baier, but it's really just her own quietly peculiar thing

the businesses that use relatively new data collection/collation technology to sell products strongly prefer if demographics are neatly segregated & tend to have a material interest in encouraging people to see themselves as in-or-out members of specific affinity groups in limited quantity

countless friendships, multiple romantic relationships, and a lot of art opportunities! honestly a big part of what makes social media so awful is how great it can be when it works in your favor. you get stuck chasing that high all the time

a lot of music made by trans women has gotten broader attention in the last few years, but trans singer-songwriters have a harder time getting heard outside of their musical circles. I have my ideas of why this is the case, but in any event Jamie's music is excellent and deserves a broader audience

it's kinda gross how this culture valorizes instinctive emotional responses while trying to play them like a fiddle. i think a sociopath who has an intellectual distaste for needless human suffering is likely to have a better impact on the world than a self-centered 'empath' or w/e

it's an authenticity thing but it's also a sort of signature, and a gentle but insistent statement that these images are computer-aided translations of physical objects and not data

Congratulations to everybody who believes in generational cohorts for being born into the good generation, unlike all those bastards who were born before and after you. What good fortune
