My sibling had kind of the opposite response to this aspect of how we came up: they moved to Chicago for undergrad and stayed. I doubt they'll ever leave. Meanwhile, I live like Paul Erdős: I just kind of show up places and hope to solve more problems than I cause

I like being a drifter but people are really reluctant to accept "I'm not really from anywhere in particular within the United States" when they ask where you're from. But the extreme itineracy is not even the weirdest part of either my upbringing or current lifestyle though, even if unrelatable
