Took Jack down to Autauga Creek today, since he refused to play on the playground with his sibs.
“Let’s go see the creek, Jack!”
“Creek? What the creek?”
“See those trees? There’s water over there.”
Big eyes. “The water in the jungle…?”

Tony, 15, would not rest until he had brought it it to my attention that he Got The Thing. Never mind that it’s a baby toy my kids long ago forgot existed… Tony knew it was prey.
