The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

With the heat this week, it’s no wonder people love pools. But to Hanna Theile, these bright blue oases offer a vital third space for community. buff.ly/RxxkQyO
Public pools made me feel at home in Pittsburgh. Let’s keep them afloat.
Pittsburgh public pools overflow with joy and laughter as a vital third space. Relief from the heat is just a cool bonus.

Hey.

Two-thirds of people DON'T KNOW what's in Trump's budget bill, even though it will affect all of us. Polls show when people know what's in it, they don't want Trump's Big Ugly Bill.

So let's make sure more people know what's in it 🧵

Not to state the obvious, but none of them were sent to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

This is what being principled Mayor looks like.
We need a mayor who stands up for EVERY student and their right to be safe and freely express themselves without fear of visa revocation and ICE detention.

It matters who donates to a campaign.

Corey O’Connor used to support making UPMC pay their fair share until board members donated 25k to his campaign—now he’s changed his stance.

Walnut Capital. UPMC. Developers. Landlords. Corporations.

That’s who Corey answers to.

Another reason we should all be abolitionists.

The terrible CR Budget bill — written by right-wing House Republicans with no input from anybody but themselves — was passed tonight with the support of 10 Democrats.

An absolute failure of Democratic leadership. NOBODY in the Senate should have voted for this dangerous bill.

The Fremont, CA city council has passed a homeless ban that outlaws camping on public property and also prohibits "aiding or abetting" homeless encampments.

This could lead to people being arrested just for handing out food or water.
