I bake when I’m relaxed or when I’m stressed and it’s mid-October a week before leaving for a two week U.S. trip so assume I’m not relaxed 😮‍💨

Here’s a wiki on it - contrastive focus reduplication - I wonder how many of the other attendees caught it and if it’s a familiar feature to speakers of “Brussels English”

Tonight I attended Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s talk at Bozar and besides the many interesting discussions, she said, when referencing Nigeria, that she “didn’t leave leave”, and this made me reflect upon how that is linguistic quirk I haven’t heard in quite some time

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

My hot take is that the new Taylor Swift album is fun (and funny). A couple skips but that’s fine, I’m still enjoying it.

My plastic policy take is that sequins truly are forever because they will not biodegrade so please use them sparingly!

My hottake is that the new Taylor Swift album is good! No skips, for me. Having a fun pop album to enjoy in the midst of chaos and cruelty is a gift.

My disasterologist take is that I would encourage you all not to dance through lightning. That is actually very dangerous.

Actually Romantic is hilarious

Generally the album seems quite tongue in cheek while a continuation of some of her regular themes
