The fact that it would look light, but feel heavy would drive me crazy. Not that I mind a dress with some weight to it; mine was silk satin, so there wasn't a cognitive dissonance going on.

I knew the kids were grumpy at each other today, but this is pretty cold.
A small present wrapped in black and gold paper with a bow. The tag, in a child's handwriting, reads, "NO Presnts for you!"

In the contrary, I think he was underestimating just how serious stuffed animals can be.

1) If my name were Schmalz, I would avoid ... that.
2) Given that everyone is talking about how Grindr crashed in the area during his memorial service, I would avoid ... that.

Those are more typical of an overcoat than a suit or sport coat. The heavier fabrics tend to be coarser weaves that will fray with an overcast buttonhole.

I've fought that wind before; not really sure I won so much as survived!

I'd take the help; I'm always coming up with good ideas when it's too late!

I can only presume this is a portal to Insect Wonderland or something.
A dense web woven among leaves and grass on the ground. It has a ~1" tunnel through the middle of it leading into the ground.

I don't know if it's the phosphorus I finally managed to give them a couple of weeks ago, or if they're just really hitting their stride, but the zinnia forest is looking pretty good these days.
A bed of very tall Queenie-mix zinnias, photo taken from the deck above. They are muted pinks, oranges, and yellows.

Often in Jesus' parables the people are generic; a man had two sons, a sower went out to sow. But outside the rich man's door is someone with a name: Lazarus. The parable invites us to let go of talking about 'the poor' but rather to open the door and meet our neighbor who has a name. #HomilyBleat

I've run across an artist who does little fish mosaics inside old tins, but the vintage jewelry take is really fun!

Zinnias, tomatoes, and cucumbers are all well above deck level at this point. Their beds are 5' below. Guess there's enough nitrogen in that soil, anyway.

Speaking of Halloween, please mark your calendar and plan to attend the vigil for the Great Pumpkin at which I will be celebrating in the traditional Latin form, wherein she is known as the Cucurbita Magna.

Junior High kids these days will be like, "Can I put on some music while I study?" and then it's literally this:
iPad showing Spotify playing the "Epitaph of Seikilos," the oldest known song for which we have both music and lyrics.

"Phew! That ramen you bought was spicy!"
"Oh? Really? Did it say so on the package?"
"Sort of..."

I don't think there's any way it would look smooth along the seamlines if you did that. Bias-cut dresses are completely different styles from ones cut on the grain because the fabric just behaves way too differently to make the same type garments out of both cutting techniques.

And yet, still a better fit than the one in the clip.

I remember there was a study out of the Notre Dame psych dept about this phenomenon and how our brains partition things. Definitely not age-related.
