It’s a lot of work for me helping Calpurnia run her business. But it’s also the only way she can be self determined with her dreams and her future. There is a paucity of choices for young adults with disabilities. They are offered work and exploited by private enterprises barely paying them 2/

Yes that happens a lot. I was reflecting more on how people show you who they are when your circumstances are really difficult. You find out who understands the value of connection, of being able to be with discomfort and show up. Most people operate from self interest until they are suffering 🙄

I think anyone who’s been through personal tragedy is always shocked at finding out this about people they thought were better than that. Courage takes a shit load of strength and is usually found in people who’ve been broken before- the more human/less human scale is the test
