There's an updated version!!! I bought it for my kid and she loves it.

One of my fave things about Lauren's talk is how she showed that so many of ecology's big problems can be solved with clever data collection, whether from a 100s of AstroTurf squares or a really really tall windsock :)

This photo does not capture the amazing energy & enthusiasm of @llseedsull.bsky.social's amazing tenure talk today!!! (Although I did manage to get the Capsella cameo & @andreacase.bsky.social's "not a threat I promise" blouse
A woman giving a talk with a slide that says "how can organisms respond to change? Adapt, move, die". Another woman in the front row wears a blouse with skulls on it.

Hey sorry for the slow response -- send me an email josep993 at msu . edu and I can share our syllabus. Yaniv Brandvain also teaches an undergrad biostats class that I borrowed a lot from when I was developing my section

We're on a roll: Super proud of this paper lead by Dr. Megan Frayer & GS Hagar Soliman (with a major contrib from GS Pia Schwarz): Introgression and Parental Conflict Shape Repeated Occurrences of Postzygotic Isolation @hybridzones.bsky.social @hagarsoliman.bsky.social @pfschwarz.bsky.social

This is so so cool and really neat to see evidence of some of the stuff @milesroberts.bsky.social was thinking about when he started working on non-reference-based pop gen approaches.

Now published in Cell! We found that ~15% of SNPs from divergent refs did not liftover as SNPs in the gray fox ref—half mapped to monomorphic sites, half failed to map. Co-authored with Matthew Genchev, @elliecat.bsky.social, and @jazlynmooney.bsky.social

howdoyou.guide
Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!

It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.

It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!
"How Do You Avoid Hitting People With Your Car" pocket guide. Instructs readers to Watch the Road and Slow Down. Further text humorously insists that watching the road and slowing down are indeed important.

Late to the party, but I'm so excited about the first paper from our lab: ✨Unique genetic bases of repeated life-history divergence associated with high altitude adaptation in Mimulus perennials ✨

This work was led by the ABSOLUTE ROCKSTAR Hongfei Chen!

Our EEB core also has a year long stats course that I coteach, happy to share more info about it.

btw, you may have seen this already but it has nice context on 1st cousin marriages, why they've been stigmatized, why it's hard to know what the effects are on traits: journals.plos.org/plosbiology/...

In fact, @ngerlach.bsky.social, who's chimed in on the thread, is an actual expert on bird extra pair paternity :)
